Matfen Hall Hotel, Golf & Spa

Dinner was an excellent slow ramble through a forest of good food. My room was comfortable and I liked overlooking the swimming pool. There was a little difficulty with wasps gaining entry.

The piano in the Great Hall was out of tune and did not deserve the 'do not touch' sign. I would have liked to play something. The large wall clok in the Great Hall had not been put forward to BST - a disappointing error.

The room was too hot so we couldn’t sleep , there was a Dyson air conditioner but it didn’t cool the room and was so so noisy , we left exhausted from very little sleep by

Very relaxing atmosphere. All facilities were clean and the food was really good.

Our room was far too hot, although there was a fan in the room it was too noisy at night which meant we had quite restless nights.

Lovely hotel with really nice rooms. Staff very attentive

Nothing we disliked but a bit underwhelmed by our evening meal. Steaks were ok but nothing special. Desert bland. At £170 for 2 without wine a bit over priced Jacuzzi not working
