壬生宿 MIBU-JUKU Shichijo-Umekoji

Room was beautiful, bright and clean. We especially loved the bathroom and mini garden outside the window. Wooden bath tub was very big and comfortable to soak in. Mattresses were very comfortable.

Location seems abit far to walk from Kyoto station. Had difficulty finding the right entrance for early check-in/luggage storage. There was a door that stated "For Staff Only" in our room which felt weird to us.

Absolutely stunning old-style apartment with private entrance off the street.

The staircase up from the entrance was a bit steep with suitcases. TV in bedroom a tree a would have been a better location.

The property has real character and has been renovated to a very high standard. It provides visitors with the experience of staying in a period Japanese house within walking distance of Kyoto city centre at a reasonable price.

The only thing that could have been better would be more storage space for clothes etc. Apart from that it would be hard to fault it.

Beautiful traditional stay, the hosts were so kind and welcoming, there are busses that go to Kioto Station on several corners and you're very close to the station. Also there are a few great food oppertunities in the same street and even more on a 10-minute walk.

Unfortunately we had some noisy neighbours, but that's the only thing.

The room is amazing. Very authentic experience! And the futons are super comfortable. The bathtub and kimonos available are also incredible.

The staff is not available at all times, which may cause some inconveniences. They take from 1 to 2h to answer messages, so you better not count on them. The check-in process was complicated, the doors were locked and no one was around. Also, we had a problem with the bathtub and had to figure it out by ourselves how to solve it because no one was there. Those are all small inconveniences, but since Kyoto insists on charging a lot for a night stay, we're going to be extra picky.
