"Agent is Stays Yuk!!"

5.0

The property was comfortable and very good, clean in most places. Location was ideal. Parking on street would have been great if we had been provided with a permit. I booked this property because it had parking. The permit was taken by previous occupants. We were offered payment for council parking which was not acceptable did STAYS YORK care, NO. Their communication was appalling, I had to constantly contact them. Do Not Book Stays York Accommodation they will not support you, they just want your money. Oh and they were keen to keep reminding you not to use Booking .com if you return with them.

Stays York company.

"If you want a quiet house close to the city with free parking then you can’t go wrong with 8 Kyme Street, would definite"

8.0

The location was perfect for the centre of the city. Lovely touch with the complimentary pack. The house had everything we needed for our stay. It was such a peaceful quiet area and the free parking was appreciated. There’s a traditional local pub only 2 mins walk away, thanks for a lovely stay.

"Very good for a short stay"

8.0

House was clean with good facilities and a welcome pack. Good location within walking distance of some attractions and local shops.

Small bins provided for recycling and general rubbish but no indication of a larger bin for when these were full. We had to pile small bags of refuse inside the house whwn we left. Not very pleasant.

"Excellent area to visit but let down by cleanliness"

7.0

The location is fantastic. Five to ten minute walk into the city or equally a five minute walk to Bishy Road with all its lovely artisan shops and cafes. Another few minutes stroll and you are in Rowntree Park. You can make your holiday as lively or as calm as you like. Perfect part of town for me and my husband who is in a wheelchair as the roads are really quiet and I could walk to everything. Hardly needed to take the car out but when I did I was pleasantly surprised that Blue Badge parking is free in most car parks and we found that we were also allowed to park in residents bays with no time limit. Huge bonus!

There were areas of the property that were neglected and could be improved. The windows and front door were filthy. The kitchen floor and the rugs were also very dirty. If I had children in the party, I would not be happy about them sitting on the rugs or walking around barefoot. The detergent draw at the front of the washing machine could not be opened as the hinge of the door in front obstructed it! Take tablets/pods if you are thinking of washing anything. There are no pegs or cleaning products at the property so do take your own. There were no oven gloves and only one tea towel provided so retrieving hot trays out of the oven was a health and safety issue. There are no matching glasses which I hate when laying a table. The TV in the lounge diner was not very responsive. We booked a 7 day stay and then decided that, as one set of family members left on day three, we would extend it to an eleven day stay to invite another set of family members the following weekend. I did request a change of towels (and bedding) on day 7. This was not forthcoming which is why I docked points against value for money. Days 8 to 11 were made as a second booking (hence my ability to write a second review) so I don't think it was unreasonable to request a freshen up. I ended up having to wash sheets and towels myself. We also ended up with 11 days worth of rubbish sitting in black bin bags in the kitchen because no one appeared to remove them after day 7. This was pretty disgusting and apart from being a health issue was also a trip hazard as the bin bags piled up. Bin bags are not provided so take your own. Booking.com did not respond to any of my e-mails. Just bear in mind that you are booking through a company who have no real interest in helping you once they have sold you the holiday. Better to book a holiday thorough a company where you are put in touch with the actual hosts and who have a vested interest in the property.
