Watermill Cottages - 18th Century converted Mill 10 mins from beach

The property is right by the river and deep in the valley with no through traffic so the whole place feels wonderfully private and safe, especially for young children and for our dog who made the most of it exploring the garden and the river together. There were lots of walks around the valley and some interesting local art and literary history involving the Jack Yeats and John Masefield. The house was comfortable and we had everything we needed to relax when we were there, including the use of the fire pit in the garden one night when we stayed out to stargaze. The place is beautiful and suited us perfectly for our family holiday.

The location is absolutely beautiful. Hosts were lovely.

Unfortunately the property felt quite damp. I think this is due to single glazing and being so close to stream. Some heaters and sockets didn't work. The egress was also an issue at the start due to a precarious hill climb on a hairpin bend. This was helped by new tyres and advice from host. Overall a great stay though.

The owner friendly and helpful. The accomodation clean, comfortabele and fully equipped.

Too many narrow sleep lanes to the property.

The ground of this property is excellent and the surrounds beautiful .

Road to get down to property slightly narrow but I guess it’s the same in most of the areas in Devon.

Es war ein gemütlich eingerichtetes und sauberes Cottage. Die Landschaft drumherum ein Traum. Wer Ruhe sucht, ist bei Watermill Cottages genau richtig. Der Bachlauf, die Vögel, die Natur lassen einen wirklich allen Stress vergessen. Nachhaltigkeit und Umweltbewusstsein wird bei ihnen groß geschrieben. Gill und Ian sind warmherzige Gastgeber und legen sehr viel Wert auf die Zufriedenheit ihrer Gäste. Wir waren mit 2 Teenagern dort und sehr zufrieden.

A very idyllic location, the kids really enjoyed paddling in the stream and using the trampoline. The drive to and from the property is a bit hairy with single track lanes, but it is rural Devon after all. Lovely beaches for kids in the area, Bantham beach was lovely. A really good choice if you are looking to get away from it all!

The property was a little dated inside but very clean. The driving was a bit much, but it is rural Devon.

So beautiful, amazing little hide away, the kids loved it, going in the stream, and seeing all the natural beauty of the countryside but yet so close to the sea 😁
