"Charming cottage away from it all"

8.0

We loved the quaint little cottage. The location is a little out of the way but we thought that was part if the charm of the place. The family who run it were easily contactable and resolved a minor issue immediately. The view is incredible and being away from everything for a few days was great.

Like other reviews, the road in is a bit narrow but you do get used to it after one or two journeys so don't let it put you off. We have a fairly wide car and it was fine. We appreciated being off grid but the WiFi could be a bit more reliable for some basic use but it really isn't a major issue when it worked.

"Thoroughly enjoyed and would definitely re-visit."

10.0

Stunning location and a complete switch off for us all. We took two dogs with us and the location was just perfect. Very clean and comfortable and would have no hesitation in recommending Barleycorn Cottage. Even though I struggle with mobility after climbing some steep steps into the property it is definitely worthwhile.

If you're a nervous driver then the drive from the A road is narrow and the steep access to the property has a few tight and blind turns but well worth it. The location is stunning.

"Peaceful, dog friendly stay"

9.0

The location is even better than the photos suggest. The stream runs right beside the properties and is pretty vigorous. It actually provides power via some sort of turbine. It was deep enough for our Springer Spaniel to have a little swim, which she did every day. The access road only sees traffic for the few properties in this part of the valley and it is very quiet and peaceful. Although it is quite a steep sided valley, it gets a lot of sun. A note of caution - the roads in this area are narrow, twisting and very steep in places, with minimal passing places. Not a place to be in a rush.

"Lovely escape to the country"

9.0

Very comfortable, well equipped cottage, lovely peaceful surroundings. Everything we needed was provided, no complaints from anyone!

The location is quite remote and the lane is very steep and narrow! The only thing we would have appreciated was a dishwasher.
