Scar View - Getaway for Two - Ridgestone

Very clean and quiet location

Was a bit far out from the bigger towns so had to drive a bit but nice and quiet when we went back to relax at the bungalow

Amazing location, (mostly) enclosed garden for the dog, jacuzzi was good size, coffee machine great

Not told before arrival - barking dogs trying to get in to bedroom window, house is blocked off from main property which is clearly the owners/main tenants property, which gives you less privacy than it looks like you are getting on booking the property. Unable to smoke in garden meaning we had to restrain our dog from getting out the gate every time you want a cigarette. Main garden and next doors garden not fully seperated/fenced off, had to drag a bin and a fire log basket round the side to keep out dog in view as he was trying to go round and see the neighbours dogs in their front window. Also - hedge/bush at bottom right corner closest to our driveway has a massive hole at the corner which we had to block off as our dog managed to get in and nearly escaped. Overall 7/10, amazing location, good facilities, just not as private or as secure as its marketed as being. Also the owners have never replied to a message stating there are neighbouring people within the same property just through a blocked door and out the back of the bedroom, seems like they are dodging the fact. I would book again even knowing these factors, but if youre looking for a house to yourself with full privacy, its maybe not what you think. Had a great time nonetheless, local pub great for food and scout scar walk was fantastic.

The post code took me to the other side of the dirt track. Could do with a proper sign on the wall outside.

Property was excellent

Myself and my partner loved every minute of our stay at Scar view - the cottage is so cozy and homely, we never wanted to leave! The garden was amazing for our dog and the hot tub added something special. Really good location as it’s quiet and hidden away which is what we wanted, but also only a short drive from some beautiful walks. We will 100% be back!

Lovely stay, the place was clean and cosy, the heating and hot tub were on ready for our arrival. Smart tvs in both rooms we had no issue with WiFi which was pointed out in a previous review. Everything we could need for our stay and bonus coffee machine for the morning coffees! And a short 15 min drive to lake Windermere. We will definitely be back.

Could consider earlier check in times for the winter months as it was very dark when we arrived and we had slight trouble finding the place which is situated down country roads. Not a huge inconvenience as we managed to get hold of the hosts for directions. But maybe something to consider.
