The Captain's Retreat, Quiet 1 Bed Dog Friendly

Everything in the property was in good condition and comfortable . And the peaceful location with fabulous views were a real tonic . It was nice to meet the owner who was helpful and he had kindly put together a folder of information about the property and area

Great location with wonderful views. Quiet and tranquil village with an excellent pub.

The parking area is made from loose sandstone. It rained during our stay and the bottom our shoes were covered with wet, sticky sandstone grit which was walked into the property. We cleaned this up every time, but would suggest extending the tarmac on the main drive into the parking area. Would save a lot on cleaning and maintenance in the property. Didn’t affect our stay, just a suggestion.

The captains retreat was very well equipped with a very comfortable bed , plenty of parking and easy dog walking routes. The local pub was really welcoming and dog friendly with a very reasonable priced food menu.

An information leaflet might be beneficial just to give details of the vets, doctors etc for emergencies. and the nearest farm shop or grocery shop to buy a few essentials.

This was our second stay at the Captain's Retreat and it was as cosy as I remember from the first time. It is a lovely quiet location for a stay with our dog. The local pub serves lovely good value food and drink. We will most definitely stay for a third time in the future.
