The Suites & Vintage Apartment at Casa Of Essence in heart of Old San Juan

Loved this place! Booked two of the suites and they were perfect for our group of 7. Location was great, everything was an easy walk. Host was very responsive and allowed us to drop our luggage off early. Can't wait to visit again!

We liked this apartment due to the absolutely fantastic location--a block to one of the two major forts (top sightseeing destination) and right in the heart of the old city with all the restaurants and bars in easy walking distance. Plus there's a well-stocked and fairly-priced supermarket literally right under the apartment. The apartment itself is OK--nothing special, but the location can't be beat.

All access was by coded entry, but all worked very well. We arrived a bit early, but she was quite accommodating, and welcomed us early. Nice welcome gift on the counter when we arrived, also. The budgies, doves and cockatiels in the atrium were a bonus. House rules required a timely end to any gatherings with considerable volume potential. Other guests were very polite and respectful. I wrote home about the "vintage" elevator. I liked proximity to shops, small grocery, Plaza Colon and the Fort San Cristobal. Lots that we appreciated. The bed was also very comfortable, and "healing" after hours of travel, for a couple seniors.

The bed was one of the most comfortable beds ever the room was spacious and beautifully appointed.

The building and its decor were charming and full of the spirit of Old San Juan. The apartment itself was perfectly decorated with a sense of fun and taste... IF YOU'RE A CHICK. I am not. This was the most feminine space I have ever been in, in my life!!! Flowers, butterflies, and about a million pillows, everywhere! That being said, in all seriousness, it was a fun place to stay. I was traveling with my teen daughter and her friend; they thought the decor was lovely. We especially enjoyed the downstairs atrium with the bird cages full of cockatiels. The apartment was clean and comfortable; security was phenomenal; and the location was hands-down unbeatable! And all for a very reasonable price.

There was a (otherwise very thoughtful) bottle of chilled champagne waiting for us; I was traveling with two teenagers, and could have used some bottled water instead.

Location can’t be beat! Great to stay in Old San Juan and everything is in walking distance from the flat.
