Alot better than expected. Very comfortable huts and a warm shower. Dinner available for 5 euros. The food wasn't amazing but it was very cheap and did the job. Staff is friendly and the location is very good for the trek right by humantay Lake

Food was not as good as what I had during other segments of my trek.

We stayed at the Soraypampa Hostel on the 1st night of our Salkantay trek. Great place to overnight, one of the few places in the area where this is possible if you trek self-guided without being part of an organized tour. We had a bungalow (glass ceiling), without a private bathroom. The bungalow was very well organized (several options for storing items) and several blankets were offered, room was clean. The glass ceiling idea is nice, but in reality it doesn't really work, it was super hot in the room during the day (as the sun was shining inside) and foggy at night due to our breathing, so we couldn't see the stars from the bungalow anyway, perfectly visible from outside though. It was possible to pay by card (no 5% added) for the accommodation and the meals. We could only pay cash for the transportation (they sent us a message in advance on booking mentioning they offer transportation via minibus). Dinner and breakfast were at fixed hours, so be there or be square. Nothing fancy offered as food, but good enough given the setting. 20 soles per meal per person. Electricity cut off around 18:30, so make sure you charge your stuff before that. WiFi worked a little more, also reasonably stable. Several people got refused for accommodation while we were there, since it was fully booked, therefore we recommend booking in advance. Great view from this location, perfect start for the Humantay Lake trek.

Hot shower wasn't hot, but this was probably influenced by the fact that many people took a shower before, when I did at 16:30 there was no hot water left.
