Rowan Studio - City Centre Self Contained One-Bed Flat

The location- was near town center, was near the station and was right by the river- We really needed that combo! Also the lovely messages from our hosts.

This was a polarising property. The location is great with just just a short walk to the city centre. Communication, with the hosts prior to arriving was clear. The bed was comfy and bedding and towels etc were all clean. There was no parking nearby (which was communicated) and I was able to use a nearby Park and Ride which was only a short bus ride away which was fine.

The room was so compact that there wasn't any additional space for anything else and as such, there were only basic white goods provided - though there wasn't a toaster. As such, this felt more like a hotel room than a studio flat. When getting a shower, I couldn't turn the temperature down and as such I had fill a bottle up from the nearby wash basin to rinse myself. However, the worse thing was the noise from the above flat. Whenever people walked around it sounded like a family of dinosaurs had moved in and even worse, whenever they used water, the sound of the plumbing felt I was living next door to a plumbing station. As a result of the noise, I only stayed one night out of the planned two and when I explained this to the hosts it was not at least acknowledged which was disappointing. I am not a fan of negative reviews and always try and balance a property alongside the experience and in this case, though the property was passable, the noise from the above flat and the shower issue made the overall experience a poor one.

Kind staff, great location. For a short term stay it could be a good choice.

Unfortunately, the floor in front of the bathroom is wet from below, the carpet is constantly wet in that part and the upstairs neighbor was very noisy.

Perfectly located, 5 mins walk from bottom end of town and on a pretty stream. The owners kindly said we could leave our bags earlier than the check-in time (and we were actually able to do an early check-in as the cleaner had just finished).

It is VERY small! Well designed, but not entirely honest to describe it as a 'one-bed flat'; it's a small double room with a kettle! We were fine for two nights but no good for large people with large luggage or longer stays.
