Should have read the reviews before I booked this place. I use this site/app frequently and have for years. This is probably one of the worst experiences I've ever had. I'm going to check reviews more carefully from now on. I also don't usually take pictures and videos of places I rent because it's never been necessary. Document everything if you choose to stay here. I paid the security deposit before I arrived. If you dig through the property's add, you will find the security deposit mentioned. You will not find any mention of a service fee, which is 15 or 20 dollars depending on the method you choose. I chose bank transfer because the fee was cheapest, but I think this exactly the method they wanted to steer me towards because this type of payment is more difficult to dispute/recover. I paid because it was the day I was to check in and had little other choice. This was the first of a series of disappointing surprises. I'm from the area and knew I was staying in the west side of Detroit. I knew what the neighborhood was likely to look like and that the house was probably old and patched together. When I arrived, I was told to follow the rules posted inside the apartment. These were not communicated to me ahead of time, and would be a simple and helpful thing to include in the property's ad, but they chose not to. The rules were pretty standard, but included cleaning out the apartment. I don't rent places where I have to do a bunch of cleaning, and would have thought twice about renting this place had the house rules been communicated to me prior to booking. This was another unpleasant surprise. There was a 60 dollar cleaning fee included in the price I paid to book, and the security deposit was also collected to ensure cleanliness, but the place was not clean when I arrived. The table was smudged and dirty. There was dried food and debris left on the some of the dishes.

The booking itself was terrible due to non responsive "guest relations ". It was literally a very unprofessional individual who insisted that we pay security deposit through cashapp and not debit because it takes 2 weeks he said, yo get deposit back through debit and it's "instant " through cashapp. To his personal cashapp by the way.

Host did not respond with entry information in a timely manner and requested money via cash app to receive a door code for entry. No advance notice prior to 3pm check it.

The host had to be called and messaged over 10 times to get information of how to enter the home. Once the responded the required 165 to gain entry to the home. They will not return the deposit

I did not like anything about this property. It was a disaster from the beginning. We were sent an email saying to call the Property manager to get the entry code to the home. When we called the Property manager he told us the only way we can get the entry code was to send him $165 deposit which was never mentioned on Booking.com he said that’s the only way you can get that entry code and it’s to protect them for any damage being done. That properly should have been stated on your description on Booking.com. I always videotape my Airbnb‘s from the time I walk in to make sure that everything is videotaped and documented so they can be any dispute about how a house was found and how was left when I first walked into the house I tried to videotaping the walls were filthy. The carpet was hard and crunchy. I walked in one of the rooms that I chose, and I opened the closet and there was a blue bath towel sitting on the closet floor with semen on it. I also went to the bathroom. Check the water pressure to see how that would work because once we were done with our business meeting, we were to come back and take a shower. The tub was clogged from the beginning I mind you I call the Property manager. I told him there is a bath towel in my closet with semen on it and the tub was clogged. I expected him to send a repair man over right away, but he said he would not be on his end of town in Detroit until after 8 o’clock, I said I have business meetings this evening and I will not be back anytime soon. I will probably be home late if you can come in and fix the cup I would greatly appreciate it, but when I hung up with him. We further found more things wrong. The cleanliness of the house was just terrible. I tried to get a hold of him several times unable to do so asking him just to disregard everything and please just refund us our money so we need to find another motel like cleanliness and the household and neighborhood was not the same as the picture shown I’m Booking.com.

The facility was very clean, quiet and comfortable, if a bit bare bones - but good value for the money. The host was great - very quick and good communication. We are from Canada, so getting the deposit to them was a little tricky at first, but he was very accommodating and in the end the process of sending them the deposit and getting it back was super simple. Being winter, I'm happy to say it was very warm, lots of hot water and the beds were comfortable. All in all a very pleasant stay.

The bathroom door - as mentioned by a few other reviewers - is a barn-door type that slides on a rail. The problem is that a) it's mounted to far out from the wall so there is a large gap, and b) it doesn't stay closed - not mounted level so it slides open -add a latch or something please! The back bedroom could use a side table. Also some way to hang clothes and towels in the bathroom and bedrooms would be very helpful - a few hooks would do the job. And a kettle in the kitchen to boil some water for tea or coffee. These are cheap and easy things to fix, would really improve the quality of the experience.

The host was very accommodating and above and beyond to assure I enjoyed my stay.
