Palace On Ganges - Heritage Hotel

Excellent location, amazing decor, very helpful and courteous staff. AC works well, washroom was clean, bed was comfortable, TV had enough channels. Less than 25 metres from the ghats of Tulsi and Assi. Lots of eateries nearby.

1. Food options could have been made better. Had to pay 300INR for breakfast but since it was after 10:30am and they serve breakfast till 11am, they did not bother to reheat the items or restock the buffet. I mean, if you are taking full payment for the food, you should ideally serve properly irrespective of the time. 2. I stayed in the lower floor "Bengal". Now all is fine in this room except two things. There is a ventilation panel on a side wall which might be completely closed but does give off privacy violation vibes. Sealing or covering that part up might reassure guests. Second, the washroom has no ventilation at all and the only window is sealed with newspaper. Also, there must be a common or staff toilet adjacent to that window since you can hear loudly whenever someone uses that toilet(and vice-versa I assume)..again, a bit of a privacy issue which can be easily sorted by the management.

The location was great. Staff was friendly and helpful.

Facilities in the room was not commensurate with the prices being charged. Breakfast was average. There is no lift in this hotel to go up the floors.

Hot items were Luke warm… very little variety …. and hotel is vegetarian

Didn’t take breakfast. The main bonus point of this hotel is its location!

The restaurant is not so well kempt and not inviting. Though I had sandwiches and cold coffee , it was delicious!

Unlike advertised most of the rooms are small, run down and in the basement without any daylight! I had originally planned to stay for 2 nights but due to an emergency had to return to Delhi a day earlier. Although I told this the hotel management before the first night (!) and asked for at least a modest compensation for staying only one instead of 2 nights, they didn’t show any understanding and refused to even compensate a small / symbolic amount.

I was charged for two separate beds and it was in the booking. Once we arrived it was one bed. It was rather uncomfortable as a young Bhuwa for me to sleep in the same bed with my nephew.

Made us believe there are two beds and there were only one bed. I paid extra and this was embracing. Very unethical.

A beautiful old palace full of character and paintings, crowned with a rooftop terrace that we absolutely loved. Perfect position on the bustling and vibrant Assi Ghat. Cool marble floors and breathtaking views of the Ganges and it’s far shore.
