Large clean spacious room

Strange amount of cars pulling into car park in the day when the pub was closed and just sitting there with lights on!

The property was nicely furnished and appeared to be good value for money initially. However, I could not use the TV due to a faulty remote and extension cables everywhere. Nice pub downstairs but noisy in room and had stopped serving food by 7pm so we were left with the one takeaway that delivered which took 90 mins and they got lost.

I was warned in advance that there would be a Halloween party in the pub downstairs. I thought this would be fine as can usually sleep through most things. The first night I stayed (night before party) I realised how thin the walls were as could hear the conversation of the few people who were left in the pub downstairs. That was fine as expect some noise when above a pub. The following night we arrived back at around 9pm and it was noisy outside, but did not expect it to be even louder in the room than it was directly outside the pub. The pub had karaoke with people screaming, crowds banging their feet and the entire room was shaking, you could feel it through your chest. It sounded like we were trying to sleep inside the pub where the party was. I contacted the owner and they apologised, advising the party would go on until 1am. We couldn’t even have a conversation in our room as we couldn’t hear each other or watch my iPad because the noise was drowned out. The owner said I could ask for a refund and after a month I’ve been advised the owner rejected my refund request. The party finished at 1am and the noise continued until 2am with stragglers, which then erupted into a full blown fist fight outside our room. I was mortified when I heard them saying they were staying up stairs which then left us paranoid. The weather was torrential and at 2am we couldn’t reasonably leave but at least we were supposed to get our money back, but didn’t even offer a partial refund for the one night. The worst experience I’ve ever had through booking.com and we travel a lot and usually have no issues. I even shared videos to show how bad it was and they agreed that it was inhabitable when parties are going on. I would not have left this review if the owner had been courteous enough to refund the one night but clearly they do not care about customer service and don’t have a business model based on repeat custom.

The bar staff very friendly and rooms very warm and shower really nice

Parking was very tight

It was a lovely room

There was a lot of noise from the pub below which I understand from other reviews is nothing to do with hotel. Also the music was left playing all night.

Close proximity to Alton towers
