THE AMBLESIDE APARTMENTS - Self catering with private kitchen - Best for Location

The tv had a pixel/glitch at the bottom, you could still use the tv but it was a bit annoying.

Nothing, we didn't even stay at the property, but actually left and checked into a different hotel about half an hours drive away.

Firstly the property was very hard to find based on the details provided on Booking.com. nowhere in the information provided did it say that the name of the property is actually Claremont House, if this had been mentioned we may have had a better chance of finding it. Please see the photo i have provided showing the prominent sign for Claremont house, it actually only says Ambleside Apartments in much smaller letters on the mail box. Once we finally found the place the entrance hall and hallways, stairs and landing were very scruffy and felt much more like a cheap hostel, but we went to our room/apartment. This has been very well photographed for the website, to look a lot nicer than it was in real life. Admittedly there was the sperate kitchen area that looked ok but there was a tiny sofa in the window that was so rickety we didn't want to sit on it, and the tiny bathroom was quite dingy and filled with what can only be described as sexist 'art'. I have attached photos of some of this 'art'. considering that this is a property that could be rented by anyone with any background or view point I could not quite believe my eyes! Entirely inappropriate for a professional business. The bed was squashed in to the main room, and we found the place so disappointing and uncomfortable we decided we could not stay, so found alternative accommodation, replaced the key card in the key safe and left.

Location

The art was masogynist. There was paint coming off walls, you could hear every step the people above made, including water splashing when they took a shower and when they went to the loo! Terrible. Picture taken and added of some of the better…. Art!

Really central

It’s 2025, having a picture of a half naked woman in the toilet is distasteful!. Outside the property wasn’t great with weeds growing. Would take a couple of hours to tidy.

Location. Check in was easy.

Water leaking through ceiling in onsuite from above room. Made floor very wet and slippery. I rang you when I booked room and was told each room had a private kitchen. Kettle lead does not reach table. Dangerous having kettle on floor. No fridge in room. Tv very difficult to work.

Clean facilities. Small but fine for a place to have a shower and sleep after a long day of fell walking.

Wifi was patchy and at times didn’t work at all.

Good location

Comparing and the properties very out-dated and in desperate need of a refurbishment. Everything smelled musty, there’s was a bad drain smell in the bathroom, the shower filled with water and the towels had a funny smell.
