Grandmother's House - Salerno

• The host - Alessandro - was very warm and welcoming. Whilst greeting us at the b&b, not only did he show us the property and give us the keys, but he helped us with the location of ferry’s, transport and good bars and restaurants. • We (myself and girlfriend) booked the double room with private bathroom and balcony and were very happy with the room quality and facilities. We would recommend this, and it was perfect for 3 nights in Salerno. • The balcony was a great plus, we relaxed and ate in the evenings enjoying the summer nights. • The b&b was a 10 minute walk from the Salerno station and a great base for us as we had trips to Capri and Amalfi booked. • Very close to good bars and restaurants in the area.

• The aircon worked, however, wasn’t as strong as we could’ve hoped and took a bit longer to cool down the room. • The bathroom was a great plus to the room, but, the shower was slightly inconsistent with temperature and water pressure, possibly affected by the other bathrooms in the b&b if they were on at the same time. Also, couldn’t switch between the regular shower head and the waterfall shower head above. Not major but would’ve been nice. • Upon arrival we paid €6 for a living room fee. Inside the property there is a kitchen, fridge and washing facilities if you would like to use them. It’s not a negative, just would’ve been good to have known before arrival so bear it in mind. Washing machine usage and cooking is an extra €5, we didn’t use but were good to use if needed. • Included in the booking it states an Italian breakfast is included from a bar/cafe 1 minute walk away. The first day we were told we could have a croissant and coffee, after ordering and consuming we were told there would be a €2 charge for the “difference”. This was frustrating as we thought it was an included breakfast in the price but ended up paying an extra fee. The following day we just had 2 cappuccino so we didn’t pay more. Again, not a major issue just a bit frustrating and it’s different to what was stated online.

The location is very convenient for transportation, the apartment is clean and comfortable, the hosts were helpful.

The process of accommodation could be easier if there was a self service entrance, the shower system was not working properly, and the private bath is not in the room, but in the corridor of the apartment.

Was good value.

The “Italian breakfast “ was disappointing. Coffee shop added a surcharge to our order. Very poorly equipped kitchen. Two broken corkscrews. No dish soap.

Alessandro was a lovely host.The rooms were very clean and as described. Good location.

The location is few minutes from the train station and the port for Amalfi coast, so it is perfect for those who want to explore this part of Apeninne Peninsula. Everything in Grandmother's House was perfect: the comfort, the bed, the brakfast, the bathroom, the cleaness, the host...everything. I would come here again as soon as possible.
