City Apartments - John Walker House

Great location, lovely hosts. Nice roomy apartment for friends to share.

Could have been a little cleaner, food smears on window. Heavy staining on settee. No proper bathroom floor in en-suite. Were not previously informed.

Secure, everything provided, comfortable. Owner very good.

Cleaning company had left several cobwebs and let themselves in on check out day without knocking. He said checkout was 10 but it was 11. No fault of owner.

This was our second stay here for our annual trip to York for our wedding anniversary. Unfortunately, this will be our last due to a few issues. Still, no second shower over the bath in the main bathroom, even though I've seen many many comments stating this was an issue for them. Would make things easier for time when getting ready so the other one doesn't have to wait until the ensuite shower isn't been used. Again, the touch lamp nearest to the window in the en suite room, doesn't last long. It works for around 5 minutes, then just stays permanently on, so you have to switch it off at the mains as the "touch" part of it doesn't work. Quite a fair amount of stains on the carpet now, as well as the orange sofa. The fridge.....I would say it needs replacing. Barely keeps anything cold, to the point of having some food stuff spoilt because of this. We tried it on settings 1-7 and still no avail. So it would be no good if people needed to keep certain medication in the fridge. Didn't complain directly as we both agreed it would be our last trip. We paid quite a couple of hundred pounds more than last year, and certainly wasn't worth it if they aren't going to listen to some of the reviews of what people have mentioned and not fix things. Also, out of curiosity my husband checked to see how much "cheaper" it was direct for the same time next year as it states this in the booklet in the apartment....it wasn't any cheaper at all, so just a heads up to those that do wish to stay again, to still check out other price deals. Compared to other apartments in the city, including the one where we're staying at next year, I would advise that this place does need a little more TLC, especially if they keep putting up the cost. I don't mind paying at all a increase in price due to inflation, but not when they aren't improving on anything in the apartment itself.

Situation of the apartment was excellent.

The light on the right hand side of the bed in the ensuite bedroom is not working properly. It comes on and then after a short time it goes off and won't come back on until I think it cools down.

Lovely appt in a great location

Great location worked well for a group of 5 girlfriends on weekend away. Powerful shower and comfy beds. Tea and coffee was not expected (we brought our own)

Second shower in main bathroom would have been good but nothing we didn’t like!
