The Turquoise Letterbox - Twin at Central

I LOVED staying here. It was our first time in Kolkata and immediately upon arrival I felt welcomed as if with family. Soumik reached out to me within a half hour of my booking so I felt welcomed even before arrival. Our room was artfully decorated and very comfortable. I loved the location, coming in through the shoe market. We were well located to get Ubers to take us where we wanted to go. Soumik was out of the city but he was easily accessible on WhatsApp, ready with suggestions and interest. Rabindra made us delicious breakfasts and dinners. He and Shaffaan were so attentive and kind. My travel companion’s flight was delayed so she ended up arriving at the airport at 4am. Soumik arranged a driver for her and Rabindra was there to greet her early in the morning. I enjoyed meeting the other guests. It felt like family. I was sorry to leave ,having a big impersonal hotel booked with our tour. I would love to return to the Turquoise Letterbox.

It was perfect for me.

The Turquaze Letterbox is een mooi gerenoveerd oud huis even ten oosten van het centrum. De eigenaar heeft vintage meubilair gevonden dat perfect past in de sfeer van het gebouw.

Zoek je weg doorheen de schoenmarkt; als je het niet kunt vinden, komt men je halen. De buurt is minder interessant.

Everything. The apartment was spacious and very well equipped. The beds were comfortable. It was great to be able to make hot drinks and to have a fridge. The staff team were very friendly and incredibly helpful. Very tasty breakfast. And we had two cooking lessons which were great.

Fortunately the host met us, otherwise it would have been quite difficult to find the property winding through a market and a back alley way Space was palatial compared to some hotel rooms we've been in. It had kitchen facilities albiet small, but it was enough for tea/coffee sandwich making etc. Air-conditioning worked well. Only big drawback was sound/light proofing. It's close to a major highway and permanently open vents face the tooting traffic and early morning call to prayer. Shutters didn't close properly allowing early morning light in. On balance though, well worth staying there.

If I'm being pedantic, sound light proofing and 2nd bed too firm

My saty here was truly spectacular. The staff were incredibly friendly. The location was perfect for exploring the city. We were especially impressed with the room furnitures and interior.

The house is well located within Kolkata city and has good proximity to most locations you'd want to visit. The facilities are as advertised on the property listing but what I didn't expect was just how good the hosts are, Soumik, his mother and the caretaker Rabindra were very courteous and took good care of us and we had great conversations. The main highlight however is their golden retriever Messi! The breakfast that they served (on-demand the previous night) was also decent and there were no issues on that front.

The location is a bit odd because of the shoe market in front of it. No other problems to be honest.

Soumik and his family have been amazing hosts, extremely kind and supportive, they took care of us with everything we needed. The apartment is clean and comfortable. Homemade breakfast, very tasty. Convenient location

Off all the bookings I’ve made on booking.com, this was far way the best place I’ve stayed at, it was spotlessly clean, great location, soumik was a fantastic host, The breakfast was amazing, as described, it’s honestly a hidden gem, amazing.

I liked everything, you could not fault it. Amazing property.

Everything: the size of the accommodation, the decoration, the staff, Messi the pet.

Nothing

Really like how quaint and well made the property was, The kitchen was well stocked with ample space to lounge around. Would recommend 100%
