The Star Inn

The room was fantastic, and the bed so comfortable. The breakfast was 1st class and the staff went out of their way to make our stay an enjoyable one.

There was no hand soap but that was soon rectified by the staff. The bathroom had no handrail or hook to hang our towels on, and there was no toilet roll holder, so the toilet roll was on the window shelf. The extractor fan didn't work and you could not open the bathroom window. Small points but would have 10 out of 10 otherwise.

Lovely welcome from the staff. The rooms were clean and comfortable with walk in shower. We were staying overnight whilst attending a wedding so we didn’t have an evening meal at the inn but the food looked good and breakfast was very nice. The inn is in a lovely village with a delightful duck pond next door.

Brilliant pub, with welcoming staff. Excellent food (the lamb and mint pie was to die for), all washed down with a couple of pints of excellent locally brewed beer. Room comfy and nice view of the duck pond from the window.

I was disappointed that even though I booked bed and breakfast, I had a (fairly) early start and needed to leave by 7.45, but was informed that breakfast service didn't start until 08.30! Maybe this is acceptable at the weekend, but on a week day? I was given some excuse that the landlady was working late and had to cater for dinners in the restaurant until late (as far as I could see, I was the only dinner and was finished and up to my room by 20.00). I also noticed, when scanning my receipt for our accountancy software), that I had been charged £12 for a breakfast that I had just been told was not going to happen. So I went off to my meeting and first substantial food was the sandwich lunch at 13.00. Not ideal.
