"Definitely recommended for the friendly welcome and overall comfort of the stay. Minor issues only."

7.0

Great location. Lovely friendly staff and spacious room with some lovely original features and beautiful furniture. Comfortable bed and great towel reail with lovely fluffy towells. Very clean room and we were happy with most facilities. Great pub downstairs where we felt welcome.

Another seat. We couldn't comfortably sit on the small 2 seater sofa so had to take it in turns. 2 sender guests would probably manage! The TV wouldn't work on any BBC channels. It kept pixalating, and the shower had no pressure so there was just a single stream of water unless you kept turning it off and on. A lot of effort has gone into decorating the bathroom, but the main room needs redecoration and the shower a good clean to remove mildew. Wifi was quite weak but to be expected when others are all using the same system.

"Friendly, picturesque and great value for money"

10.0

Staff were very friendly, room was really nice. Perfect spot to stay at briefly on our walking holiday.

There were limited food places for dinner. And limited access by foot. Not really the pubs fault though!

"Good stay recommended for Pennywell Farm and South Devon Steam Railway"

8.0

We had rooms 1, 2 and 4. VERY large rooms for the money. Note: NOT as photos, as the rooms have been updated since then. (Room 4 could have been an ideal family room, for 4 beds, if extra beds provided). Fridge in the room, plus sofa/chairs. Car park included. Rooms 1 and 4 had shower, 2 had a bath with shower above. All was ok. Near to Pennywell Farm, Otter/Butterfly Farm, and to Buckfastleigh Steam Railway (South Devon Steam Railway). I spoke to them before going, and messaged, very helpful each time. Good value for money. I would use again.

I'll first add for the price, I was very pleased. However, they need to check the finer points, then they would get far more money for the rooms: No 2 bathroom needs doing urgently (no cold water from the tap, hole in the wall, damaged flooring). Main room was ok. Add extra beds, to become family rooms, twin rooms, etc. That would have meant, dearer per room, but saved overall as we could have had 1 or 2 rooms, rather than 3 rooms. They then could have also sold the other rooms, gaining them more money as well. Fans and Room Safes would be nice. Cleaning around the edges of the rooms, behind the bed, cupboard, etc. Would have been a good idea, don't think behind the bed has been done in a year and you can see behind the bed. Really, this is easy to do, and looks so much better. Some of the paint and wallpaper is peeling off, again an easy fix. Very small TV in Room 1. (Room 4 was good, Room 2 was ok). It was ok for a get out at 10am this time, but really I am used to at least 11am and mostly a 12 noon exit with other sites. No breakfast option, nor food in the evening, again, maybe something to look at, but not detrimental. as we knew in advance, so took food with us.

"Lovely rooms"

8.0

Truly stunning rooms and nice staff! They don't sell food, but don't mind you having take away inside. Of course we had some great cider. Co-op right next to it.

There are not many restaurant or food options around. A second blanket for the double bed would be nice.

"Value for money. Ticked all my boxes."

10.0

Ticked all the boxes for me. Very reasonable price, spacious room, kettle, tea, coffee, milk. Small fridge, hairdryer, iron. En suite clean, yes some mould in the sealant but overall clean. Plenty of car parking. Handy Co Op in walking distance 5 mins.

"Perfect for what I wanted, which was cheap but good accomodation within easy driving distance of Sal"

8.0

The room was spacious and clean, but as this is a pub, brekfast was not included. Its around 30 to 40 minutes drive to Salcombe where prices are 5 times higher. The staff were very friendly and the accomodation has a different entrance than the pub so you can come and go at your leisure.

There is a knack to make the shower pump operate, but when it did it was excellent. It was frustrating that there were no USB outlets in the room, or even in the pub, so I could not charge my phone and the pub could not lend me a charger.

The room (no 1) had amazing views of the moors, good size, couple of sofa chairs and a fridge. Big bathroom too. Some noise from the pub but not as much as expected. No road noise.

Television small and short cable made it hard to bring close enough to watch. No shower gel or soap in the bathroom, just a bottle of anti bacterial hand wash. Some herbal tea bags would be good.
