Fabulous position just a row behind the harbour. Nice and quiet though. Lovely comfortable cottage with all modern facilities. Enjoyed the hot tub. A lovely welcome pack and toiletries in the bathroom.

"Good location but a tad disappointed"

8.0

Good central position and hot tub

Although it was nice I didn’t feel like it was value for money. The basics that I would have expected for a property like this was disappointing … no sugar, no coffee, no shower gel which is normally the basics for a property no tv’s in the bedrooms and although it was clean on the surface there was cobwebs all over the blinds and windows and the lamp stand was dusty ..I have paid less to stay at other Whitby properties than I paid for here and was better for the basics last thing you want to do when you arrive is go shopping for basic stuff

"Great location and very relaxing stay - loved the hot tub and we were very comfortable."

8.0

The location, the host was really responsive on whatsap, parking included for one car, the hot tub was great, the garden got the morning sun which was lovely, bed was really comfy and nice linens/towels

I had read prior reviews from last year which hosts had responded to but none of those things raised had actually been addressed - it’s only small things but having only one bin in the whole place down by the back door in the kitchen was annoying - no bathroom bin I think needs sorting at least (they cost about £20 so can’t see why not) I would agree that if there were 6 of you the living area would be very tight (there was a massive 8 seater table which took up a lot of space) and there are absolutely not enough glasses/mugs - for 2 of us this was not an issue.

"A lovely little cottage in a great spot, and it really made our stay in Whitby special."

10.0

We had such a lovely stay at Mast Cottage, it was the perfect base for our trip to Whitby. The location is spot on, right in the middle of everything, but still really quiet and tucked away. Apart from the odd person walking past, it felt really peaceful. After lots of walking each day, the hot tub was an absolute treat and something we really looked forward to coming back to. The cottage itself felt really homely, beds were super comfy, and the towels were nice and fluffy. The kitchen had everything we needed to cook proper meals, which made things really easy. The welcome hamper was such a nice touch too! The biscuits were delicious, and it was great having tea, coffee, and milk there ready for us when we arrived. The front room/dining area felt really cosy, and the lighting made it a really relaxing space to sit in during the evenings. The WiFi was also excellent, fast and reliable, which was great for winding down with a bit of TV and staying connected. Our 7-year-old was very excited to find the TV in the top room, it was perfect when they needed a bit of downtime after a busy day exploring. One of the main reasons we booked was because it’s dog-friendly, and we’re so glad we did. Being able to bring our dog along made the trip even more special (even if he wasn’t too happy about not being allowed in the hot tub!). Everything was within walking distance, so we didn’t need the car at all, which was brilliant. Not having to worry about paying for parking was another big plus.

"Beautiful cottage , prime location"

10.0

We stayed here for 2 nights as a group of 6 friends, and we all had a really great time. The cottage was clean and decorated to a high standard with a really lovely bathroom. The added bonus was the hot tub . The location could not have been better one street back from the main street . Plenty of parking passes for the 2 cars we had .

The living room area is smaller than it looks, but we managed and had a fantastic time .

"Beautiful cottage, perfect spot- just couple of tiny tweaks to make it even better."

8.0

Brilliant location- so close to everything but still tucked away from the main streets. Bedrooms spacious and comfortable and bathroom very contemporary with great shower. Garden and hot tub fantastic.

Kitchen okay but no freezer and very limited glasses for inside and lack of glasses for use in the hot tub and garden. Definitely not enough for 6 people so had to drink wine and cocktails out of small plastic mugs. Very poor lighting on staircase and only a rope handrail- one of our group did fall. Seating in lounge is limited and not really enough to seat 6 people comfortably- very squashed. No bin other than in the kitchen- really need at least one more for the bathroom. No lights in garden- solar lamp would have been ideal. Bathroom window (and a few others) didn’t open and neither did the front door meaning only one fire exit if needed.

"Really enjoyed it! Fantastic place!"

10.0

Fantastic place! Really homely, amazing location close to the bay and shops. Very helpful staff and were always available with any enquiries we needed. Really enjoyed our stay!

Nothing much really. But advise to take a fan or Air-conditioning unit during summer months. Very hot in bedrooms at night.

"A very comfy stay with the family in a characterful cottage in the heart of Whitby & with a hot tub!"

8.0

A lovely little cottage full of character, very comfy and well renovated (lovely bathroom!), right in the heart of Whitby. Also has a great outdoor space with decking and a hot tub - we really enjoyed our three day stay. Although there were neighbouring outdoor spaces, they weren't in use and there's no-one above (just the rockface), so it felt quite private. Dogs were allowed which was also a bonus. We were able to park briefly to drop off our bags and then used the permit to park nearby (up the steep steps, but as you'd expect, it's on the side of a cliff).

All was pretty good really, could have done with a few more kitchen bits of bobs - lack of glasses and cutlery. And as advertised, there is only one bathroom with loo (were were six people), it's on the first floor where two of the three bedrooms are. As you'd expect, there was the constant aroma of fish and chips from the outside space as you are right behind The Magpie Café, so a positive and a negative!
