Vinu’s Place

If you like to have authentic travel experiences, this is the place! The family owning the accommodation are amazing people and made my stay very special. They welcomed me with a fresh king coconut and invited to their apartment for a small chat. The apartment upstairs is simple but has everything you need for a comfortable stay, and the master bedroom has a super-comfortable bed with a mosquito net. The home-made breakfast was super delicious, and enjoying it on the little balcony felt like a perfect start of the day. The beach is just a walk away, and on your way you might spot some gorgeous fireflies, as the area is really peaceful, quiet and has less light pollution. The family also went through some effort to find a driver offering a fair price to my next destination. (Most home stays in Sri Lanka would know a driver or two, but often you end up paying a fair bit more than negotiating the price in the town yourself. I really appreciate that this family found it important to ensure that I don’t overpay for the transfer.) Thank you so much for your kindness and hospitality! 🙏

This is an entire apartment, the top floor of the family home that is modern and spacious. There is a bedroom with a fan and large comfortable spring mattress. There is a fully equipped kitchen with large fridge and dining table where you can enjoy the amazing breakfast made by Vinu and her mum. There is a lounge room and balcony to sit and watch the monkeys in the trees opposite the house. The bathroom was very clean. Nearby restaurants and small grocery stores, only a 5 minute walk to the beach. We felt very safe here, all doors are locked with a key. We really enjoyed our stay!

I was well welcomed by vinu's and her family. The apartment has a very cosy vibe and is really nice. I stayed for a week and could have stayed a little longer. The view onto the jungle and many monkeys is a true getaway. It is nothing fancy but well decorated and feels very homy. Also you can cook and the bed is very nice!! Also vinu's and her mom's cook very well !

No hot water for shower and there is no door at the top of the staircase separating the ground floor where the family lives from the first floor where apartment is located maning we can hear sometimes.

Vinu is the sweetest host I had in Sri Lanka. She made us the best breakfast and took care of us like part of family.

I’ve been travelling for 3.5 months and this is one of the best stays we’ve had as a couple. As soon as we arrived we were greeted with an iced lemonade (there is a slight hill to get to the house), then shown to our room. They have made the entire top floor into the guest part so we had the bedroom, lounge area and a lovely outdoor seating area. There is also a little gas cooker and jug if you wanted to do your own thing. Everything was very clean and the bed was very comfy. The food was amazing we had 2 breakfast and 2 dinners but were also offered plenty of ginger tea which was our favourite part! Vinu and her family were so lovely and made sure we had everything we needed during our short stay. For me this is a place I would love to spend a month relaxing. We spend hours sitting on the balcony watching all the wildlife. The beach is a 10/15 min walk and there is a yummy Resturant nearby called Lemongrass Cafe where we had lunch.
