Monarchs Quay Arena Apartments by Happy Days

Excellent location in proximity to M&S arena.

The property had not been cleaned to a standard I would expect. There were clean towels and bedding but the floors and surfaces had spill stains, dust and dried on food showing that they had obviously not been cleaned prior to our arrival. When I messaged to say I was disappointed at the cleanliness (I also sent photos) I was ignored. Such a shame since the location and apartment itself was great.

Proximity to the event I was attending

Property was not clean at all. Couldn’t use the kettle because of how dirty it was. Toilet was not cleaned properly. Bring your own bedding and towels.

The location being close to the event arena that we came to Liverpool for.

Booked the apartment for 4 nights, but the day before arrival we decided to extend by an extra night. Booking.com showed the apartment as available, so I contacted the office directly to amend the booking. I was told the apartment was unavailable for the additional night and was offered another apartment in the same building, which I agreed to and paid for. I was advised we would need to check out of that apartment and check into the original one the following day. After checking out, paying for luggage storage, and waiting for check-in instructions, we were then told we would actually be returning to the same apartment. This caused unnecessary inconvenience and expense, as we would not have checked out or paid for luggage storage had this been communicated correctly. The apartment itself was in poor condition. The bed slats and blinds were broken, and although the blinds were supposedly fixed, they still did not work, forcing us to use a spare sheet for privacy. The apartment was also dirty, with unhoovered floors, dirty utensils, unchanged sheets. Despite reporting this and being told cleaners would attend the next day, nothing was done. The hot water for the shower also did not work. Although maintenance was supposedly arranged, no fix was made. We were later told the boiler had ongoing issues and to simply “manage.” This was the worst stay I’ve experienced. While responses were prompt, no promised actions were followed through, and the poor service has completely changed my view on booking apartments here.

The location was great, the place was nice, easy access

There was no broom nor mop or cleaning product to clean up as you go. No extra towels or beddings, no tea products to make even a cup of tea.. the oven tray was dirty in the oven. The only mirror was the one in the bathroom so that was a challenge, the bathroom extractor was not working so mirror was steam up after shower and takes a while to have the use of it .. skirting board was very dusty.
