Cathedral Quarter Hotel - Derby

Fantastic location and characterful building (former police station).

Tired fixtures and fittings. Aircon not working in our room but we didn’t complain as we were only staying one night.

Though front desk is not manned 24/7. Staff were super helpful, warm and polite. Lovely decor. Fabulous location. Comfy older hotel which has a feeling of grandure. Good nights sleep in comfy beds. Good sized breakfast. Loved it.

In busier times gone, or maybe its seasonal , the hotel foyer would possibly have been a busier hub for the surrounding restaurant and bar that may also be open.

A bit tired in parts but to be expected of a building of this age

I really liked the room, the bed was super comfy and the bathroom was huge! The lady behind the front desk was absolutely lovely and very accommodating as well!

Unfortunately there were a couple of things I didn't love, for one, I had to sleep with earplugs in because I could hear every word of the TV in the room next door, there was no phone for reception in the room and nobody was at reception when I needed to ask them to ask the person next door to turn it down. Then there was a dripping noise coming from the floor of the room?? I couldn't locate the source but it did keep me awake. The room and bathroom were boiling hot and I couldn't turn the heating down. And I went for food, they had a fancy dining room I could hear people in, but opened up a cafe area for me to sit in alone to eat, that was a little weird? But the food was good!

Even prior to arrival the staff were lovely and very helpful about check in when my flight was delayed. The hotel’s location is ideal - near the bus station and shops and not far from the train station. The building itself is gorgeous. The room was wonderful and the bed was extremely comfortable. There was a decent hairdryer and an iron in the room. The included cooked breakfast was delicious and again staff were really accommodating. I thoroughly enjoyed my stay.

Honestly this is a minor things but my room had a bath yet the body wash was fixed to the wall and far too high if you had a bath other than a shower. I hadn’t thought to bring my own with me as I knew there would be some there.
