Cathedral Quarter Hotel - Derby

The staff were very welcoming, and always had a smile. The hotel itself is beautiful and wow what a staircase. The room was spacious and very clean as well as tea and coffee there was aldo bottles of water which was very nice. The hotel it just up the road rom the cathedral which is lovely it was nice yo simply walk down and sit outside to hear the bells. Also I use a rollotor and it was very accessable!. The breakfast here was lovely, personally I had the full english which they make from scratch but there a lot of other lovely options.

Good value for money at one of the busiest times for Derby during the Download festival. Cheapest hotel int he area - and therefore the best!

Nothing to not like. I got exactly what I paid for.

The breakfast was excellent as the cooked breakfast included those items that I wanted to be omitted and included all of the items that I usually enjoy. Staff service was good especially as the waiters had to walk up and down the stairs to go between the kitchen and the breakfast room. Excellent - looking forward to a third visit in the future.

The location is spot on for our needs. We have stayed there several times, so thought we knew what we were getting.

I emailed & called several times to clarify the check-in procedure because we were going to be coming in late after a wedding and wanted to know if we could drop our luggage earlier in the day. No response at all. When we arrived at 10.30 in the morning there were no staff to be seen anywhere. The reception was dark and bleak. I wandered around and eventually found someone in the kitchen who came out to check us in and stored our luggage. When we came back that evening we were given a room upstairs. The lift was out of order and my husband could not walk up the stairs. The lady was kind enough to change our room to a ground floor one. I complained about the lack of contact in the weeks running up to our stay and was told they had staff off on holiday - for 3 weeks?? I don't think so. And why did no-one answer the phone?? She was quite embarrassed and did have the grace to give us a drink each on the house. The room was shabby, had moths flying around and was generally very unloved - in fact the whole hotel is not a patch on what it was. We will not be going back - what a shame.
