"Loved the Peak District, would recommend visiting Bakewell"

3.0

The cottage itself is beautiful, lovely surroundings in an ideal location !

The fire alarm was beeping every 3 minutes announcing the battery was low which was annoying/disturbing and could also be considered a health and safety hazard as it did die in the time we were there. When we went to get into bed we noticed the sheets had not been cleaned/changed and there were hairs (pubic included) throughout the entire bed and make up stains on sheet and pillow - we ended up having to look and hope for spare sheets stored within the place and luckily we found some, but sorting this out as paying guests was the last thing we expected to be doing. It made us feel very uncomfortable in a place where we were meant to have rested. There was also residue and soap suds in the sink where it hadn’t been cleaned properly either. Minimal communication about resolving the situations too.

Lovely cottage, very cosy.

Little hard to spot from the road, but luckily the host gave very helpful instructions on the location.

Location was great. Accessibility to investigate some Lovely walks.

A warm cottage on entry, it was very cold and luckily the wood burner came in useful the first evening. The WiFi wasn't particularly good it kept dropping out. A better welcome pack. Places we've stayed in previously have had tea, sugar& coffee in proper caddys or jars, not some sugar sachets or tea bags just thrown in a bowl. Also afew extra goodies, a bottle of prosecco some local produce. There was no scissors or spatula to remove anything from a frying pan.The carpet in the lounge had burn marks on it,the vacume cleaner was full and even after emptying it wasn't much good as the whole thing was dirty and I don't think the filters had ever been cleaned.

Comfortable, great location, lots of character.

Some of the things provided took a while to find, e.g. matches. There was no hot water coming out of the wash basin or kitchen sink initially, as the water heater had been turned off.
