Letting Rooms @ Charles Dickens

The staff were lovely and beds were comfy. The room is just what you need for one night in a good location for us (we came for the rugby) WiFi was available for free but we had to figure the password out a bit because the poster didn't clearly show the capital letter 😀

Although the room wasn't particularly filthy, it can't have been checked since it was last used and cleaned a while ago. The kettle had black mould spots in so we haven't used it (we're from Yorkshire, we need a morning brew) and my daughter's bed had a spider, cobwebs and tons of little flies all over it which we dealt with to minimise the 9 year old drama. We also had no heating in the room which was very cold. We put the radiator on but it never came on so we just slept in our jackets.

Ideal location for a couple of nights stay

The location was good for me.

The window wouldn't close. The room was dirty. One of the lights was flickering all night. And there was a party going on in the other rooms until 5am so I couldn't sleep.

The staff are fantastic, from the girl who checked us in, too the guy behind the bar who gave us the use of his phone charger as we had forgotten ours. Check in, two hours early, parked, checked in and in room fantastic. Room spacious, even had a sofa. Bathroom clean Bed clean, mattress and pillows comfortable. It's an old building so windows not the best, not double glazed so noisy at chucking out time. Location fantastic, five minutes walk into town.

This is where the issue for me lay. Unfortunately, we had the guests from hell next door. Shouting, laughing out loud (and I mean loud), crashing around in the room carrying on till around 3 o'clock in the morning. Put a total dampener on the stay.

The staff were lovely and really helpful.
