Modish and Spacious Apartments at The Exchange on Erwin in Durham, North Carolina

The common areas were nice when I could get to them. There were no instructions on how to use the fob. The fob only works on the main doors when the leasing office is open. You have to use a hidden door when the leasing office is closed. That was never explained so it took 3 days before I could use the common areas.

This was a very bad stay. The code to the gate was not correct. The shower curtains had lots of MOLD on them. It took 4 days for the shower curtains to be replaced. The hallways smell like trash b/c of the valet trash service. For 4 days I asked management to give me a call. No one ever called. I will never stay here again.

Excellent place to stay .

Had issues with initial 2 days with the washbasin sink which was resolved later.

It is close to Duke, which was the reason for our visit. The bed was comfortable. The unit has a washer/Dryer, and laundry soap is provided. There are some good places to eat nearby; Big Bad Breakfast was our favorite.

Your apartment code resets itself before checkout time on the day of departure. We were trying to help another guest who got locked out while they were packing up, it was not easy to reach someone for help. A larger spiderweb is in the corner of the living room. Footsteps from the apartment above sounded like a child as it got noisy at times.

Location was great. Very close to a grocery store and the university. Very high ceilings. Spacious kitchen. Modern and minimalist. Definitely a better value than a hotel. Limited access from the public

Here are the issues. 1. Had to contact property to get a code for entry to the apartment because I was told the system didn’t generate a code. No big deal issue resolved in 5 minutes. 2. Cheap, EXTREMELY HARD AND UNCOMFORTABLE bed. 3. We arrived and there was trash in the elevator, dirty dishes and dirty dish towels in the sink. I contacted the property through booking.com and was only given an email address. Never got a response after two messages. See photos.

Asked to check in early 2 days prior with no response. Door code sent at 230 but didn’t work till 4 so we sat in hallway for 90 minutes. Room was full of food and toiletries, messaged booking.com because it was odd. Day 2 someone trying to get in our room and it was her food and toiletries because she was staying there still! This means we spelt in someone else’s dirty room and our room was never cleaned or checked prior to our arrival!!!!!! Had to switch rooms due to this gross mistake. Was told they were currently cleaning our new room and it still took 4 hours to get the next door code.

It was wonderful, wonderful clean great location

When we arrived, the code that was given for the gate did not work. It was not the right code. We had to ask somebody that was going through the gate if they could help us and they gave us the actual code. We tried calling somebody, but that is my biggest concern with this is there is no easy way to get help. The other situation is we wanted to extend our stay by one day, but I could never get through to anybody. When I finally did, they told me I could go online and make my reservation and I told them the problem with that is they would charge me the whole $188 cleaning fee again. I was very happy with everything but I feel like it’s very hard to get in touch with anybody if you need immediate help.

The property is nice and in a secluded location.

The first apartment I was given, hadn’t been cleaned, smelled bad, the refrigerator was filthy and smelled like fish. There was open food left in the cabinets, dirt on the floor, it wasn’t good. The second apartment was ok but didn’t have a balcony. The coffee table was broken and was pushed on its side in the living room and on my last day as I’m getting dressed, two repair men just walked right in to fix it as if it wasn’t documented that the unit was being rented. I like the apartments, they’re really nice but the upkeep of them seems to be lacking. I had too many issues for the amount of $ I paid.
