"Peaceful comfy retreat in a lovely part of the country"

10.0

A lovely quaint cozy cottage in a lovely hamlet, with a waterfall running through the centre, everything was perfect very comfy sofas to relax on in front of a roaring log burner, then at the end of the night very comfy beds for a good nights sleep, the cottage is so well equipped there’s everything you need, nice neighbours who help the owners with booking in (we got early access as the cottage was ready which was very helpful) a fantastic pub just 500 yards up the hill we had an amazing meal there as recommended by the cottage owners who were in contact during the booking process with lots of info, very helpful. We will definitely book again as we thoroughly enjoyed our stay.

Nothing to dislike about the property The only little problem is the front door leads onto the road which is a cut through and does get busy at times,so you need to be careful, but the owners do tell you about this on booking

Location was great, outdoor space nice. We had a great time at the cottage and the kids and dogs loved it.

These aren't negative points, we would just like you to be aware of the following. Kitchen chairs need fixing and glueing, garden not very dog secure (loose fence panel RHS and slats in bottom fence loose). Spindle at top of kitchen stairs loose so needs fixing. Not an issue but stairs really steep to bedrooms so could have been identified on the listing for less able people.

"Great location; ideal for glorious walks ."

9.0

Great location for nearby walks . In a truly beautiful setting . Well equipped kitchen . Every thing you need. Comfortable bed . Bathroom small but nice bath and shower .

Back yard is a little unloved . Needs a tidy up. Would be nice for some comfortable seating as in such a beautiful setting and sun trap .

"Lovely stay - great location, comfortable and nice outdoor space"

Lovely and quaint: nice outside space in beautiful village

Couldn’t quite get the heating right and some minor things need replacing - lampshades on bedroom lamps

"Superb"

9.0

Mill Cottage manages to be both spacious and cosy, and is well equipped and very clean. Everyone we met was lovely and made us feel very welcome, and the hosts helped us with several requests. Easy driving distance from Dovedale, Lud's Church and other major things to see. Nearby Leek had plenty of shops and eateries including the charming Duck Goose.

Only minor things: 10am checkout is a bit challenging for owls, with tidying up! Needed a few hooks to hang towels and clothes in the bathroom.

"Very good"

8.0

Lovely cottage, very comfy bed and adequate bathroom. Garden was small but perfect for the dogs. Tasty and good quality coffee provided for the coffee machine. Fire place is just wonderful with plenty of wood for cozy evenings. Central heating was easy to handle but there was not always a signal despite good WiFi. And it was nice to start walks from the cottage to explore the Roaches so the car had a break too although we made a trip to beautiful Buxton for dinner. The only thing we struggled with was the front door as you literally step into the road when going out but that’s just how it is. Some cars just drive past too fast.
