Westdale Cottage, Elton in the Peak District

We had a delightful stay at Westdale Cottage. It was a beautiful, snug home, with oodles of charm. Comfortable lounge with a superb log burner, which added atmos and warmth in addition to the radiators and underfloor heating. The kitchen was well-equipped, and a great space to cook in. The bed was large and very comfortable; the bathroom warm & commodious, with a deep bath & piping hot water. Stunning views out of the rear windows. Steep stairs and low beams upstairs may be a drawbacks for some folk; they were all part of the cottage’s character for us. The milk, biscuits, tea bags, dishwasher tablets etc. were appreciated. Great walks right from the doorstep, and the village of Elton is just lovely. Some pointers to possibly enhance the experience: * more detailed instructions to locate the cottage; * larger bath towels; * signs saying ‘Caution: hot water’, as it really was blisteringly hot; * better quality loo roll; * a new set of coasters throughout; * windows needed cleaning!

We loved the locationand the cottage itself is delightful and well appointed. The underfloor heating in the kitchen was lovely in the depths of winter! We enjoyed our stay with our dogs.

Unfortunatley the sofa's were extremely uncomfortable, so would suggest these are changed? We also found some of the cooking knives were blunt. Although the host gave us helpful instructions on the lock box, we found the cottage itself diffcult to find in the dark, and found reception was poor, and so we struggled in the dark, rain and wind. We would like to have seen better signage of the property name, and the lights on outside to help people locate the lockbox. Perhaps suggestions to 'park outside X telegraph pole before the road dips down to a hill on the right coming through Elton...opoosite X house' could enable better luck in finding the property, and also, print out any sinstructions, as our phone signal meant we could not access them on our phones.

Everything was so easy to check in.

Very comfortable and well equipped. Very peaceful in a beautiful setting. LOVED the dee bath and the warm bathroom and kitchen. Brilliant log burner.

A beautiful and peaceful location. We loved the cottage and the walks from the house and had a brilliant time!

Absolutely fantastic cottage. Our group (4 adults) had a wonderful stay. It really is a home from home. It was super clean and we had a nice surprise with a welcome pack of tea and coffee biscuits and milk. We used it as a base for our Alton Towers trip. It was about 40 mins but we didn't mind the drive as the scenery was beautiful. We will definitely be back here again.
