The Blue Bell at Cocking

It was well placed for my midhurst-centered needs, the room was clean, well-appointed, and cosy and the shower was particularly good (and not at all difficult to figure out how to operate). Took me a minute to figure out how to get in after hours but I did manage it and everything was fine, comfortable, felt safe, and while there was no cooked breakfast, the in-room provisions they provided were varied, tasty, and plenty. I would absolutely stay here again.

at check-in, i could have used a little more detail on how to get in beyond "here's the outside door key" because there's four doors on the place. I ended up at the correct door twice but the lock was a bit sticky and didn't open on my first attempt. Not ideal on a foggy autumn midnight but after circling the building like a daft thing for ten minutes I did manage to figure it out. This is mostly a me problem.

Excellent staff, great food, good beer

Bar was blocked by the locals who didn’t move out of the way so we could access the bar - found that a bit rude.

Everything that I read prior to my arrival about the Blue Bell was 100% spot on. It actually exceeded my expectations, as the real ales on offer were fabulous, the menu was extensive and really delicious, service fabulous, and welcome and feeling of the whole pub was just so lovely. The location being next to South Downs Way was excellent, as I was able to go for a super early morning run. With this pub being a community project, it surely has to win many awards in the future.

Ci siamo fermati al Blue Bell durante il South Downs Trail fatto con un amico e abbiamo scelto una stanza doppia. I letti comodi e la doccia ok quindi alla fine abbiamo dormito bene comunque. Buona la cena nel pub stesso: porzioni abbondanti e grande gentilezza del personale.

La stanza era davvero molto piccola, senza vista, con un micro frigorifero che faceva un rumore terribile e abbiamo dovuto spegnere durante la notte. La colazione in una cassetta era tanto di base senza neanche del latte (se si voleva si poteva comprare nel piccolo negozio del pub stesso). Il prezzo decisamente esagerato per la stanza.

Great food, location, staff etc

A little pricey but probably worth it for couple. I stayed on my own so just a little pricy for that.
