I just stayed for one night as I was visiting a friend. Ideal, very reasonably priced stopover that provided all I needed. Super friendly jolly staff who allowed me to book in early. The idea of a simple breakfast in the room really suited me as I wanted to hit the road early for my long journey home to the Southwest on a Friday.

The staff were all very welcoming and helpful. The room was thoughtfully furnished and a good size for a night or two stay and the bed was comfortable. The shower was great, with much better water pressure than at home! The building was quaint. We had dinner one evening and that was very good and reasonably priced. Breakfast was in the room, with pastries, fruit and porridge pots and yoghurts and juice in a small fridge.

The wi-fi was quite flaky but we understand that's being fixed shortly. The room and bathroom were very clean in terms of the work the cleaner had done, but there were scuff marks on the wallpaper which made it look a bit scruffy. The running of the pub has recently been taken over by new tenants who are aware of the little details that require attention and have it all in hand.

Breakfast seriously let this place down. Everything else was very good. We are walking the South Downs way and needed a proper breakfast not a few pots in a fridge in our room and instant coffee with fake milk! Sorry but I feel very let down when it said on the booking ‘excellent breakfast included’ I cannot understand why the very sweet cleaner I met could not be diverted to provide even fresh bread and jam and proper coffee and milk! We don’t need a cooked breakfast. This is very inadequate and should be adjusted on the website asap If it had stipulated ‘packed breakfast provided ‘ I would not be making this fuss!
