Beautiful cave house with lovely views over the city. Easy to find and get around the Sassi. Bus dropped us right near the apartment.

The apartment was in a fantastic location and the space was really nice. The view from the deck was amazing! The host was super communicative and easy to deal with. It was bright and didn’t feel like the cave it was.

The bed wasn’t all that comfortable. The frame may have been damaged or something as my wife and I kept sliding to the middle. Not a big enough deal for us not to stay there again.

We were very much impressed with the attention to detail during our 2-night stay in Matera. Giancarlo is a superb host, always checking if we needed anything. He waited for us to arrive and provided instructions on how everything works. We were welcomed with cupcakes, chocolate cake and wine. Unforgettable stay in Matera thanks to Giancarlo and his wife, Rosalba.

This was such a beautiful and unique property to stay in! The view from the terrace was spectacular and the suite was spotlessly clean. The hosts left us some snacks, wine and food for breakfast which was so kind and appreciated. The location was perfect for exploring the Sassi. We loved our stay!

The apartment is awesome!!! Great location and clean. What a view! The owner Gianfranco was very hospitable and helpful.

The only thing I didn’t like is that we weren’t staying longer.

The breakfast treats left for us were incredible, and more than what we expected! The cave house itself was in a wonderful location, and the host was incredibly helpful! The value of the room was great as well!

The bed -- it felt more like a futon mattress. We also heard someone's alarm system beeping all night during one night of our stay, when we slept with the windows open.

My wife, daughter, and I spent 2 nights at La Cava in early September. The moment we stepped into the room, we were wowed by the elegant designs and layout of the cave, combined with modern amenity. The room was stocked with everything we needed, from espresso and drinks to various cakes and the famous Matera bread. The balcony has a great view of the surrounding caves. Everything was within 10 minutes or less walking from this place. I highly recommend La Cava when you are visiting Matera.
