"Very Good"

7.0

Location

It wasn't the cleanest. Dirty oven and rubbish under beds. There has also clearly been a leak in the master bedroom and the ceiling was still damp. A hive thermostat meant we couldn't control the heating which resulted in no chance of drying our walking clothes.

"Lovely cottage in a great location"

7.0

A really lovely little cottage in a great location with the added bonus of beautiful scenery. Well equipped with dishwasher, washer, etc. Shower was powerful. Wi-fi worked well during the entirety of our stay. Parking directly outside the property was no issue. Selection of pubs/restaurant, cafe and shop all within in a short walking distance. Overall, the space was welcoming. Information provided before the stay by the host was really helpful.

If I were to suggest improvements, it would be more attention to cleanliness - especially the floors, throws and the tea towels (stained). As others have suggested, the bathroom would benefit from a refresh. The main bedroom ceiling also looks to have some kind of damage. A more comfortable sofa option would significantly improve the stay, as the current sofa bed wasn’t ideal for relaxing or feeling 'cozy'.

"Like a home away from home"

10.0

WoW, what a wonderful place to stay. This place was exactly as described, very clean and tidy. Very beautiful old cottage building with modern electrics and gas central heating. Fully functional kitchen with under counter fridge which has a small compartment freezer inside. Electric hob and oven as well as a toaster, kettle, and microwave. Most cooking utensils/equipment is provided for use, but if you want something particular, then bring it with you. The bathroom was nicely presented, and the shower was nice. Some towels were provided for our visit, and this was a very nice touch. Bedrooms and beds are very nice and comfortable. The location was perfect for our trip and where we planned to go. Parking was not an issue when we stayed, and there was a space outside I could use. Only a few minutes walk away is the high street and market area. This has some local convince shops and a small coop. A few cafes and restaurants to get anything you need. I would recommend Tideswell Lounge cafe, a very nice breakfast, and Sals Italian restaurant for a bite to eat, and it's very nice to see that there are gluten-free options available.

There was nothing we did not like about this cottage and our stay. We would definitely stay again. The only thing I would note for some people is that Tideswell is in the peak district, and so there are lots of hills and slopes around the area and some small narrow roads, some without pavements. This is not a reflection on the property but just something to note about the peak district in general.
