A very traditional and well run establishment. We were given the warmest of welcomes and the friendly staff could not have been more attentive. The rooms were clean and nicely decorated with everything we needed for our overnight stay. The evening meal in the restaurant was delicious with a great choice of options and again excellent service. Breakfast was no different, good choice, warm and friendly service and all excellent quality! In a quiet spot with lovely views from the beer garden. Just the break we were looking for!

10/10. I’ve stayed here twice whilst travelling for work & loved it on both occasions. The staff are super friendly, beds are comfortable & lovely views to wake up to. Great value for money! I hope to return again soon.

The staff were very welcoming, the room and views were perfect, super comfy bed. Food was bang on. I'm sure we will be back some day.

Very disappointing stay. There were many issues that needed attention and should have been picked up on during a room check before we arrived. Kettle full of black bits – Had to go down into bar to ask for a new one. Ran out of toilet roll – no spare in the bathroom. Had to go down into bar to ask for one. Light above basin not working. Cold tap did not turn off properly. Hot tap was loose and swung round when turned off. Bath panel cracked/loose and sharp edges sticking out. No access to plug socket on right side of bed due to bad positioning of bed base. Massive gap under the main door, so live music from downstairs was audible. Had to lay coats on the floor to block noise and draughts. Fridge/kettle were plugged into an extension socket that was dangling in mid-air hanging off the TV cable! Surely not electrically safe! Heating was still on at 2.00am. Wasteful. Breakfast order requested by text the night before but no phone signal in village! Had to go down into bar again to give breakfast order. Breakfast was disappointing, no juice, cereal, yoghurt, toast etc. just one plate of hot food and one hot drink. Booking.com called it ‘Exceptional’!!! I’d booked this accommodation as a special birthday treat for myself and my husband as we were attending a Star Gazing event as part of the Dark Skies Festival at nearby Danby Lodge in the North York Moors National Park. Such a shame.
