The Chocolate Factory House, Kandy- exclusive private apartment

The accomodation has a great view. Very nice and clean and also with very spacious rooms. We were sorry to be here for only one night. Samin was very helpfull with everything we needed.

The property was big enough to host 4-5 people. We had ample space in each room and the living room. The balcony was an amazing add on with great views of the valley during sunrise. The kitchen had all the necessary appliances and the host, Sami, was very welcoming. He patiently answered all our questions.

Could see a few lizards which was a bit of an issue for someone who is afraid of them. As I understand, lizards are native to this region of Sri Lanka. Maybe the property can be sealed or fumigated to deter the lizards from entering.

Beautiful 2 bedroom house in the tranquil hills of Kandy. It’s really well furnished with lots of home touches, very comfortable beds and quality linen. It has a huge terrace with sun and shade, offering beautiful views of the valley and a washing machine, which was such an added bonus for us long term travellers. From the property, kandy centre is a 12 min tuk tuk ride away but there are also small shops and a bakery just round the corner. It’s a great place to hike the easy 14 km, 1st stage of the Pekoe trail from or walk the 3km to the Ceylon tea museum. Sami and Aline, the owners, live in the house below and are on hand for any info or help and couldn’t be more welcoming. When I first saw this house I thought it was too good to be true, but it really is that special. We would DEFINITELY stay here again as it’s so perfect for a visit to kandy away from all the hustle and bustle. We would have extended our stay had there been a vacancy, but the chocolate factory house is understandably becoming very popular with all the amazing reviews!

It was excellent stay far from crowds

We loved our stay at the Chocolate Factory House. It is very clean with comfortable beds and bed linen. The lounge is a nice relaxing space and the view from the terrace is amazing. Unfortunately, it rained a lot so we were unable to sit outside as much as we would have liked. We really enjoyed the Kandy Tuk Tuk city tour which Sami arranged for us. The driver was excellent, knowledgeable and spoke good English. Sami and Aline were excellent hosts and Sami kindly transported us between Kandy railway station and the accommodation.

The rain and we wish we could have stayed longer!

The location is amidst lush greenery in a quiet and peaceful neighborhood. The apartment itself is well furnished with a fully stocked kitchen, amenities such as washing machine, drying rack, water filter amongst other things that would certainly make for a pleasant stay. Aline and Sami have made good use of the space. They were amazing hosts, always responsive to any queries. They helped us arrange a city tour of Kandy at a reasonable price. Sami also offered to drive us to our next destination which was very kind of him. I’d highly recommend this place if you’re making a stop in Kandy.

Nothing we didn’t like

An absolute must stay for a peaceful and beautiful visit to Kandy, with accommodating and kind hosts. We stayed before starting stage 1 of the Pekoe trail which was accessed along a 2km path from the house with stunning views. This was by far the most comfortable accommodation we have stayed in SL, the beds are huge and lush, the interiors warm and hand picked, and the sunset from the private balcony was a highlight for our group. Don’t hesitate to book!

We stayed at the Chocolate Factory House in Kandy for two nights, and everything was absolutely perfect. Waking up to the breathtaking morning views was a highlight of our trip. The apartment was fully stocked with everything we needed—a well-equipped kitchen, two comfortable bedrooms, and hot water showers. The host even provided complimentary cereals and other small amenities that made our stay effortless. The cleanliness and coziness of the apartment were exceptional. Our host was incredibly friendly and knowledgeable, always ready to assist us. While finding the location in Heerassagala can be a bit challenging due to Google Maps not always showing the exact spot, a quick call to the host solved everything as he guided us right to the doorstep. We highly recommend this place to anyone visiting Kandy and will definitely be returning on our next trip!

The hotel location is easy access to the kandy town and the host is welcoming ,nice and caring. Ovarall the facilities are exeptional and clean and well appointed. Ideal for a small group or couples.Can visit easily to hantana bird park and hiking trail. We had a nice calming stay.Thankyou saminda for everthing..

I had a lovely welcome from Sammi who showed me around the apartment and gave me the key. It has a private entrance, and owners live in the house below. Lovely clean and bright apartment. Beautifully designed. I had a very comfortable stay. The apartment is on different levels (a few steps) and is very spacious. Very comfortable mattress and high quality bed linen. Good water pressure in shower. Good AC in bedrooms, but I didn't need it, fan in lounge room and nice breeze from opening the patio door. Full size fridge, microwave, single plate electric burner and water filter. The drip coffee machine was wonderful and Aline had provided tea, coffee, sugar, milk, and a few welcome goodies. Excellent communication via W.A. and advice aboout restaurants etc. Always willing to help. I wouldn't hesitate to recommend this lovely place.

Shower water temperature could have been a little hotter, but it wasn't really a problem. Aline said they will look at it.
