"Perfect rental to explore Spittal, Berwick-upon-Tweed and the surrounding countryside."

9.0

Close to the sea front, easy parking, beautifully designed adaptation of an old bakery. And a stunning garden to view from your own terrace.

As described,, the head height in the mezzanine would not suit very tall people.

The place was spotless, and the owners had thought of everything you could need during a stay. The location is perfect for going to the beach and going to local attractions. Overall very cosy and comfortable.

"Peaceful stay sightseeing."

Might need to mention to people about low bedroom ceiling. Not an issue to us but might be an issue for others.

"Nice atmospheric venue to stay in, sympathetic use of a historic building."

8.0

Liked the location, the way that the building had been re-purposed to accommodation and the general cleanliness and availability of facilities that we needed.

One of the things we had not really appreciated was the steep stairs to get to the bed and how low the ceiling above the bed was going to be. As more mature clients who tend to get up in the night frequently, we found this to be a bother and had to resort to putting our trainers on to get up and down the stairs as they are slippy if used barefoot.

"Good"

5.0

Nicely fitted new kitchen

The bedroom is a small attic with very low sloped ceilings making it difficult and dangerous to move around without striking your back on the ceiling or shuffling around bent over. Very dangerous for someone with a bad back or knees issues! The garden was not really private. It was the courtyard for the main house and lovely as the dogs were, being woken up at 7am by them playing whey their owners wasn't fair. No proper sofas or comfy chairs, just a futon in the livimg area. It's a pretty empty village with no nice facilities and Berwick is a good 30 minute walk along a busy road.

"Excellent bolthole for a visit to North East"

9.0

Location, design and comfort. And a farewell gift of home produce from the garden.

Found the hobs a bit tricky. Would have liked wee things like liquid hand-soap and salt/pepper.

"Great little cottage for exploring, perfect for a short break."

9.0

It had everything we needed, the owners were very friendly and the location was great for exploring.

The low roof in the bedroom was a little difficult at times but we are both tall and didn’t affect us too much - only when getting changed.

"Lovely little place to stay, amazing garden"

9.0

The old bakery has been lovingly restored keeping original features from the days it was a working bakery. The owners have thought of everything, it might be small and compact but it has everything you need. The owners little touches were appreciated; a mirror near plug socket and stool to sit and dry hair. The garden is really amazing, you can see all the hard work that goes into creating a little paradise to sit out in the evening to enjoy a drink. We found this a great base for exploring the area.

Just a small issue on check in, we arrived at the property and hadn’t received the check in details, door code etc and had to contact owners who promptly replied. The email came through the next day 24 hours too late. I suspect this was booking.com responsibility not the owners though.
