Bed was really comfortable. Location was very convenient for Harpenden town centre. Wi-Fi was very fast.

Room decor was very tired, especially the bathroom. Coins, pills & lots of dirt were under the bed when I felt underneath to retrieve a dropped earring. No power sockets by the bed. No parking & limited on street parking without resident permit restrictions.

The staff were lovely and very helpful and welcoming. The pub has character. Room was a good size and that there was a fridge.

That there was no biscuits in the room, which we would have thought would come as standard, you've got to have a biscuit with your cup of tea. The room and bathroom could do with a little bit of tlc. The light switch in the bathroom was hanging off the ceiling. The ceiling light fitting next to the door was not recessed properly. Ultimately, we felt that the room price should be more towards £80 mark, rather than £100. However, we really did enjoy our stay and this was a lot to do with the attitude and helpfulness of the staff.

Lovely staff, perfect location, on the common, walking distance to the high street and station. Excellent gastro pub, will return.

Upstairs very tired, the room needs a complete revamp. The bathroom light switch is hanging off showing wires . The door to the room is difficult to open - especially if you have limited hand strength. Bed could do with a topper ( this is a personal thing) The toilet seat is lose and bangs the cistern against wall when sat on . The property is room only and with this in mind and the issues identified we feel very over priced , even taking into consideration of area/ region it is in .

Staff were friendly and helpful

The room and bathroom were run down. The shower didn’t work properly - was even a bit dangerous, suddenly running scalding hot, then freezing cold. There was no one available to talk to about this and when I let them know later, they said it was working fine. Felt like they just disregarded my issue.

The location was good & the room was of a decent size.

The price was too high for 1 person. At the very least, I would have expected a breakfast to be included in the total price. Also, the pressure of my shower head was too weak.
