SO/ Sofitel Mauritius

The view from the room, the beach with is 2 minutes walk. The staff were very helpful and friendly. We were provide with free water as need it.

Rooms altogh are big they need a major upgrade on furnishings, they are old, probably from when the hotel was build. The manager informed us that in 2026 they will start to remodeling. Breakfast need some improvement s but not so bad. Pillows needs an upgrade as well.

I like location on ocean, clean rooms and very helpfull, friendly staff,

Room size. Pool size. Privacy.

Buffets very poor. À la carte acceptable. A 4 star hotel masquerading as a 5 star.

It was a vast property with huge grounds , the staff who helped us with our luggage were nice.

It was very expensive compared to other resorts nearby like Outrigger and Tamassa, that had better facilities and better maintained. This properly is very run down, but I’d let them off if they had trained their staff better. The staff needed better training. They left my friend, who had travelled very far, waiting outside the gate for 1 hour, I explained they had come to meet me as we were leaving to travel to another part of the island together and were going in one taxi. Under no circumstances would they make any compromise not even to just allow him to wait in reception, it was ridiculous as well as humiliating and they kept quoting security to justify their reasons. They were so rude, unhelpful and insulted me as a paying guest. I’ve travelled to many 5 star and exclusive resorts in Mauritius and the world but never been treated this way, it was distressing. There’s so much potential to make guests have a better and positive memorable time in such a beautiful spot. I hope they change And improve , but until that happens I don’t recommend this place.

Location is good, right on the beach. The area is VERY quiet and peaceful. The property is quite large and so room spacing is pretty good to maintain privacy.

Feels like a property where the investors got their return and then haven't put any more to reinvest back in to keep it maintained. Decor is quite outdated with weird bed frames that slide around. Worst part is they treat their guests like criminals by LOCKING the soaps to the wall. The only standing shower is outdoors, and there is no soap/shampoo out side, and you can't move the bottles provided from inside to outside. I don't want to STEAL your cheap soaps. Relax. Let me move it to where it's needed. Also while the outdoor shower is nice in theory, it seems no body actually tests the water flow. It was spraying all over the place and hard to get a good shower in. The breakfast food area was often left unattended, and so the local birds descend on the food and are eating directly out of the same serving plates that humans consume from. Pretty disgusting. Aircon was fairly weak as well. The thermostat read 18 degrees, but it most definitely was not that temp in the room.

I stayed there for one night in September and they charged me twice! I informed them about it till today didn’t receive the refund.

We booked expecting a 5-star family stay. Instead we experienced serious safety and service failures: Electrical hazard: exposed wire in a socket. I was shocked, reported it immediately; maintenance never fixed it. Two days later my wife was shocked too. Broken glass left near children: a glass broke in the restaurant; staff did not clean it for ~20 minutes despite repeated warnings, until a staff member got injured. Buggy transport delays: the property layout forces you to wait for a buggy; we often waited ~20 minutes at the entrance with small children. Car rental arranged via hotel: vehicle supplied had a broken headlight, discovered at night while driving. Refund not honored: we left early after 4 days; the hotel agreed to refund the unused nights within 2 weeks. It has been 4 weeks and nothing has been refunded.
