We had the most wonderful stay here, it was truly the best homestay experience we’ve ever had anywhere and felt like finding a second home. The room was spotless and perfectly maintained, but what made this place unforgettable was our incredible host. She and her sons welcomed us with genuine warmth and kindness, treating us like family from the moment we arrived. Every day she spoiled us with delicious homemade traditional meals, each one unique and full of love, it felt like we were experiencing authentic local cuisine in the best possible way. She also helped us organize a safari trip, which turned out to be absolutely amazing and one of the true highlights of our entire Sri Lanka journey. The location was also great, very peaceful and quiet, but also close to main attractions. It was the perfect balance for exploring during the day and relaxing in the evenings. This is not just a homestay, it’s an experience filled with warmth, care, and hospitality like no other. We left with full hearts (and full stomachs!) and cannot recommend it highly enough.

Lovely Family, a single mom with two boys. They cooked the most amazing dinner and breakfast, also washed a laundry for a good price. They offered fruit and tea. Also they took care of my dietary needs (no wheat). Their friends offer safari in minneriya and taxi. The room is very nice, very clean, ac works well, warm shower if you use the shower head directly connected to the heater. You can have meals on front porch overlooking the lovely garden. Great location to walk to a lot of restaurants and food stands. They also took us to lions rock at 5 am and picked us up again for a very reasonable price. They helped is which busses we should take, even took us to the bus stop when we left.

A bit pushy about doing a Safari. We felt bad about the amount of food we couldn't finish.

Super clean facilities, charming host family, green courtyard. Breakfast and dinner were both amazing, incredible value for the price. We absolutely recommend to have dinner at the homestay and experience Chandrikas great cooking skills! We spent a lot of time with this wonderful and welcoming family and happily recommend staying at Sanu Homestay.

THIS IS THE BEST HOMESTAY EVER!!!!! Our favourite in Sri Lanka by a long way. We loved the whole family who were so accommodating and friendly. Chandrika cooked us a massive delicious dinner and breakfast which was incredible. We also played carrom with her two sons after and had a lovely conversation. They're such smiley friendly people to be around 😊. The room itself is gorgeous with a clean modern en suite and comfortable bed with mosquito net. The rest of the property is just as beautiful. Thank you Sanu and family 😁👋

This was hands down the best hospitality we've had across almost 20 countries. The host and her wonderful son made us feel like family immediately and went out of their way to help us with everything we needed during our stay - activity recommendations, tuk tuk rides, laundry and even fixing my backpack when it broke. They are such amazing people and we loved getting to know them. The room was spotless and had everything we needed for our stay, including thoughtful extras like a travel adapter plug and a good mosquito net. The bathroom was spacious and very clean, and the air conditioning and wifi were both good. The location was very handy to local restaurants and was a short walk from the main bus stop. The breakfasts were absolutely incredible, with different food every day which kept us full until dinner. We also ate dinner at the homestay one night which was also delicious - the best food we have had in Sri Lanka. We can't recommend this homestay enough!!!

We loved everything about our stay at Chandrika’s place. Chandrika & Sanu made us both feel absolutely at home & very, very welcome. The breakfasts varied each day, and both were incredible (and huge!). Chandrika also offered to cook dinner for us - the meal was probably the nicest meal we have had / and will have in Sri Lanka! The room was perfect - air conditioning, extremely clean, a mosquito net, good shower & a comfy nights sleep. The area is approximately a 10 minute walk to nearby shops and restaurants. It felt very peaceful! Chandrika went above and beyond to help us out during our stay - by offering lifts into town, and even one at 5AM to Pidurangala Rock. Chandrika also recommended an elephant safari trip & helped organize this for us. It exceeded expectations and was definitely a bucket list trip! We were welcomed with open arms, and felt like part of the family. Chandrika & Sanu are incredibly kind & welcoming people, and they made our visit to Sigiriya, it wouldn’t have been the same without meeting them. We would love to have spent more time here, and we were sad to have to leave. Chandrika felt like our Sri Lankan mum!

Absolutely nothing - it was perfect!

Our hostess (plus her two helpful sons including the titular Sanu) at Sanus Homestay were absolutely wonderful. Situated in the town of sigiriya it is easy to reach the monument and the rock next to it. Theoretically you could walk to the surrounding restaurants, but the family food is so much better than the restaurants there! I can only recommend to dine "at home". Breakfast was also something different delicious every day. And the portions are huge! On our way there we had an accident (only a scratch) and the whole family helped communicating with the insurance and navigating them to the Homestay the next day. The room was extremely clean as well as very new with an aircon and very good water pressure.

Follow the signs from the main road and don't trust google maps regarding the street. Maybe the signs could be a bit bigger just because there are so many others as well.
