"A wonderful find"

10.0

Just returned from a 2 night stay at this wonderful hotel. Honestly couldn’t fault a thing. The bedroom was stunning, food was amazing and the staff are awesome. Nothing was too much trouble and they really made our stay. We loved the lounge area, relaxing in front of an open fire.

The whole experience was a delight. Superb facilities, lovely historic touches and fabulous food. Very comfy double bed and super power shower.

Minor point, accessing the wall sockets and not really being advised in the process of the dog charge.

"Would go again!"

10.0

We really enjoyed our 2 nights at The Master Builder's House. Our room was in the Henry Adams wing - modern, well-appointed, warm and comfortable. Nice tea and biscuits were very welcome. We ate in the restaurant on both nights and found the food to be high quality, beautifully presented and well served. All the staff were friendly and professional.

"Perfect New years retreat"

10.0

Loved the location and the incredible history of The Master Builders House and surrounding area. Great to be able to walk along the river to Beaulieu where again we discovered much about the importance of the area during the 2nd world war. The whole area felt like stepping back in time but at the same time the accommodation was very cosy and comfortable. All the staff were very friendly and made us feel really relaxed. Would definitely recommend.

"New News Eve Celebration"

10.0

A group of 14 of us stayed for 2 nights to celebrate the new year, with 4 dogs. I cannot fault anything. The rooms were lovely and totally catered for our dogs, including bed and treats for them. They gave us a room to ourselves to dine in and play some of our pre arranged party games. The food was delicious, the service was excellent, and it was an economical stay as we took advantage of one of their many offers. We will be back!

"Lovely hotel."

10.0

We stayed for 2 nights between Christmas and new year. We were made to feel welcome from the minute we arrived. The room was spacious and comfortable and overlooked the harbour. The bed was massive and high but again comfortable. I’m vertically challenged so had to climb on the bed. The milk etc was replenished every day which is a rarity in most hotels. We ate in the pub and food was good. Breakfast was great too.

"Perfect wedding :)"

10.0

Our wedding at the Master Builder’s House was at the end of November 2025, and we really can’t praise Lizzie and the team highly enough. Everything about the experience was fantastic, from our first look round and planning meeting to checking out the day after the wedding. The wedding day itself was everything we wanted and just seamless; everything we had planned and discussed with Lizzie and our suppliers on site just happened, without us having to think about anything on the day. Our flowers and decorations were managed by suppliers who know the hotel and team very well (ask Lizzie for Jessie and Emma’s details – they’re both fantastic!), so everything looked incredible. The venue is amazing, in a beautiful location and grounds. It’s intimate and cosy, and we loved having the different areas for our guests to spend time in throughout the day. All the staff – everyone from the reception, bar and kitchen teams to Lizzie who coordinated everything for us – were wonderful. Everything we needed was taken care of with care and attention, and nothing was too much trouble. All the food options we went for were delicious – we’ll be going back for special occasions and working our way through more of the menu! A huge thank you again to Lizzie and the entire team for such a perfect wedding experience :)

"Birthday weekend with hubby"

8.0

This was a weekend away for my birthday- it started very well as the young lady that took my booking had a birthday on the 28th (we commiserated with each other about Xmas birthdays) and I also got a birthday welcome message in the room. The place was decorated outside with little fairy lights and Xmas trees. However one niggle was when we went to Henry’s (the pub that serves food) and asked if we could eat. I know they were busy but we were told no unless we ate outside (a freezing cold day) - I asked if we could eat in our room - again told no . We went next door to the little museum and had two bacon butties which weren’t quite the same as lovely hot pub food! Our room was ready early so we unpacked and had a nose around the place. The hotel is ideally situated on the Hard and it was lovely and we watched the twinkly lights come on in the houses. The food (we had pre booked) at night was lovely and I gad a great birthday. Our room (the vixen) was in the annexe and the bed was sumptuously soft - however there was a bit of noise as we were right by the car park but we did fall asleep as were knackered! The next day we did the walk from the Hard to Beaulieu village - I would thoroughly recommend this - a round trip of around 5 miles) My only other niggle was on check out on Monday- I went to hand out key back and I advised the receptionist that one of the Xmas tree lights were out and was told that she was far too busy to attend too them … even if she was I think she could have been a tad more polite/ patient. The site of the hotel is great and apart from the two items mentioned above we had a grand time. PS. No baked beans are served at breakfast …
