Master Builder's House Hotel

Not our first visit to Bucklers Hard but our first stay at the Master Builders. And I have to say we were not disappointed. Number one, dog friendly - with a super welcome pack in the room for Ollie. The staff were great, a lovely breakfast and a fantastic environment. All nice & clean. No complaints at all. 100% recommended for a weekend in the Forrest.

Very relaxing stay in this beautiful hotel. Very well looked after and great food. Highly recommend this one. Close to all the best laces in the New Forest too!

Was very dissapointed with this place, as vastly over priced with nothing extraordinary to warrant such prices. I found it no better than any other pub, but the prices were more like Knightsbridge

Wonderful boutique hotel. Friendly staff, very cosy vibe with a lovely guest lounge. We booked a river-view room which was perfect. Spacious, comfortable, sofa to watch TV from, windows that open (yay! no aircon), big bathroom with walk-in shower, tea, coffee, etc. Very comfy bed, pitch black and so quiet….great night’s sleep. Absolutely loved it! We had dinner in Henry’s pub and managed to bag the table beside the log fire, enjoyed the food which was delicious except for the chips which had been over-deep- fried (if that’s possible) but my seabass and the puddings were yummy. Great cocktail and wine list too, with nearly all wines available by the glass which made a nice change. We would definitely stay here again.

Came here for my granddaughters wedding. Beautiful venue in lovely surroundings. It was an amazing day. Stayed two nights in a comfortable Henry Adam’s room

Terrible! If I could give it zero “stars” I would. Stay somewhere else. Let me tell you the story. We booked in August 2025 for a single Friday night in November. We rang that Friday morning to let the hotel know we would be arriving about 23:00. We rang again in the evening when we set off with a couple of hours drive ahead of us. We arrived at the hotel at 23:10. The hotel appeared deserted. No one on the front desk. Everywhere was open, just not a soul. The sign on the front desk said to ring this number after 23:00. We rang and got an answer phone. We rang again, and again and again. Eventually the answering machine said it could not record our message as it was full. At 23:45 we decided to drive back home. Fortunately, on our drive home, we did find somewhere local to stay, just down the road at the Montagu Arms Hotel in Beaulieu. With no booking, and past midnight, they went out of their way to find us a room. After a good nights sleep we rang the Master Builder’s. They claimed they had left the room key on the front desk - at least that is what the night porter must have told them. The offered us a voucher off our next stay. No thanks. Shambolic. Lovely views (apparently) and serious management issues.

Absolutly lovely! Such a lovely hotel to stay in with lovely rooms with all details absolutly spot on- food was great! Loved it!

A beautiful location in the superbly named Bucklers Hard. A nice walk away from Beaulieu. Right on the banks of the river. This is a quintessential English boutique hotel. The style is ‘English country inn’ and it lives up to it. The rooms are fine, not brilliant. Perfectly fine, perhaps apart from soundproofing. Bed comfortable and en-suite ok…maybe due a refurb though. Food in the pub restaurant is good…with an open fire and exposed beams. Maybe check if a wedding booking will be there during your visit as elements of the hotel may not be open to you.
