Master Builder's House Hotel

Beautiful place steeped in history. Lovely view of the river and very friendly staff. We had dinner which was very good indeed. Breakfast food was good, but we weren’t comfortable eating breakfast in the bar area surrounded by 3 big dogs and 3 members of staff chatting loudly and laughing behind the bar. It rather spoilt the ambience that we had enjoyed until then. Maybe you should serve breakfast in the delightful dining area for those who don’t have dogs and would like a quiet breakfast. It rather took the shine off what was a very pleasant stay.

We loved to stay at the master builders. It’s a great location and there’s so much to do and see within a very short distance. Our package included Beaulieu Motor museum, which was a hotel provided bike ride away. We also went on a short river cruise from the marina at the hotel and finally we visited the Maritime Museum within the grounds which was far larger than we had imagined. In the evenings we enjoyed a great atmosphere in Henry’s Pub. The beers choice was excellent especially locally brewed Monkeys Sea Wall cask Hazy Session IPA. Our dinner in the hotel pub restaurant was worthy of being called Gastro and the service was very pleasant although it could’ve been slicker, we were perfectly happy with our experience. The staff were all very charming. Our rooms were simple, clean and stylishly decorated. The beds were extremely comfortable and the linen was extremely soft. Despite being a little on the small side, the rooms worked well. So if you’re looking for something that is charming and comfortable quality, rather than luxury, that has lots of history and with plenty to do in the vicinity I would recommend at least two nights stay. We booked a last minute family getaway with our dog so we could go on nice long walks in the New Forest. The location next to the river is wonderful and lots of character and history all around. Every member of staff we came across was welcoming and helpful and great service in the pub for dinner and breakfast. Cooked to order breakfast was especially good (including our dog's mini breakfast plate). We'll definitely visit again.

My Husband, booked a room in the main building with a king size bed. He has 6 foot three and a queen bed would not be possible. We were there for the marriage celebration. Due to medical reasons, my husband could not come. When I arrived, I was given a room with a queen size bed, and overlooking parking. The heating was not working in the room and I was freezing. I also had to cross to get to the main building for breakfast. As my husband has canceled his presence and informed the hotel, I believe that they gave me a bad room. I stayed for two miserable nights and could not sleep. The breakfast was very good.

We booked the Master Builders House for our wedding. We were mightily impressed with every aspect of our experience. This beautiful venue, steeped in history, provided a wonderful backdrop for a relaxed and supremely organised day. The wedding breakfast and canapés were of exceptional quality, those with dietary requirements were very well looked after. Food was delivered swiftly to the tables by capable and efficient staff. This is just one of numerous examples where the attention to detail elevated the experience. From transferring the bride to the ceremony room without being seen, to the unexpected gift in our bridal suite, all demonstrated the meticulous thought and planning by Lizzie and the team. The whole experience was a calm, smooth and professional operation.

Unrivalled location, room acceptable but tired. I cannot believe this is a 4 star rated hotel. Service is poor, u cannot even get a sandwich or snack at anytime. Food is pretentious and overpriced, wine very expensive large glass of house white wine£17 yes£17! Breakfast is served in Henry’s bar and not an enjoyable experience. Main restaurant is closed to hotel guests as is used for functions. Guests are treated as an inconvenience with little or no care to the guest comfort. We politely advised the receptionist thst with regret this would be our last stay at the master builders hotel. At best this is a 3 star hotel such a shame as over the years we have had lovely stays here but will not be staying again.

Excellent value for money considering breakfast was included and a very generous breakfast allowance!

Unexpected visit with my son to escape over running building work at home. What a treat! We both enjoyed our stay so much. Friday night fish and chips in the restaurant, superb breakfast (lots of choice) and Saturday morning walk to the village for coffee. So glad we spotted the flash sale and we’ll be back soon. My husband is now keen to visit because he missed out this time. Big thanks to everyone for making us so welcome. Oh - forgot to mention - it’s great to have two EV chargers on site - I was really pleased to be able to get a full charge on the hotel car park - ideal!

Room a little stark for the price, did not reflect the rest of the hotel. The wines are too expensive.

Masterbuilders is a perfect gem hidden away in the green of the woods with the water as a backdrop. We stayed in the stunning Balthazars Cottage, a real treat of country chic with the comfiest bed! Celebrating our 1st wedding anniversary we couldn't have asked for a more idyllic stay. Tilly and Ollie in Henry's Pub are a real asset, offering a personable and attentive service, as well as Meagan flying solo at breakfast also gave first class service. We couldn't have asked for more. We were made to feel so welcome and nothing was too much trouble. Thank you x
