Character 2 double bedroom cottage in Shaftesbury

Warm, comfortable, and the welcome pack of provisions was very good. It was a property full of character and therefore a memorable stay.

We were not made to feel welcome when we arrived because we were 25 minutes before the notified arrival time due to light traffic. The owner has many rules as befits a listed building which also does not permit cooking strong smelling foods without having windows open - difficult in the Winter! There were notes everywhere telling us what not to do based on his experience of stays with previous guests. It felt quite oppressive to us who did not need reminding. Also an imperious waving of a hand to tell me where to leave the keys at the end of our stay.

The cottage had such charm and was situated in the old part of Shaftsbury, and 5 minutes from the centre of town. The owners ensured that we had all we needed, from crusty bread, milk, eggs, jam and fresh fruit to logs for the fire and an electric blanket on the very comfortable bed. It was a delight and an honour to stay in such an old and unique cottage with a beautiful garden to look out on.
