Casa Gajah Hotel Cuyo

The hotel design was very artistic that reflecting the unique charm of the owner. There were colorful hammocks on the large balcony for guests to relax and enjoy the peaceful environments. The room was spacious and clean, the bed was big and comfortable, and the water temperature and pressure of the shower were good. The owner was warm, funny and friendly, and also provided delicious Italian dessert for us who were late due to loss the signal on the way. Excellent value for money, hope to visit again in the future.

Sometimes the internet connection and signal in this area is not good which may cause the problem with Wi-Fi.

The owner Federico is a very interesting person who has travelled a lot, and is a pleasure to speak with on a variety of topics. He lives in one of the rooms and has a vast local knowledge.  The building is easy to find and is located within a short walking to the beach.  Room came with a mini-fridge, electric kettle and 3 cups.  WiFi and AC worked fine.  Free drinking water was provided in a large container (thank you!).  There was one bicycle available to borrow, it was old and needed work, but was usable for short rides around town.

I wish I could provide a higher rating for this place, but I have to stay with facts for the actual days we were here (hopefully, under different circumstances your experience would be better). We were expecting a laid-back peaceful accommodation, but our experience here was ruined by screaming kids, loud noises and cigarette smoke.  Even the beautiful terrace with hammocks was barely enjoyed after a large group arrived with two young kids who were screaming from 8:00 in the morning until 10:00 at night - the terrace was turned into their playgroun, and the family dominated the space. I completely understand that it is not in the owner's control who his guests are, but the fact remains - you have to be prepared to share the space with people who could ruin your vacation.  We tried to spend our time hiding from the noise on the rooftop terrace (the one that lost the roof during a hurricane), but it was quite windy there, and there were only a couple of wooden tables and basic chairs (no hammocks or comfortable seating area).  In addition, smoking was alowed on the terrace (along with provided ash trays), and some guests smoked freely there (forget the fresh ocean air).  There is also some construction noise from across the street.  So, there was very little of actual peace or enjoyment at this property - the main reason we chose this place in the first place.  Every day that went by, I was regretting more and more choosing this place.  During the fourth night we woke up to a disgusting smell of sewer coming through the window from outside into our room - the smell was so strong that we could not go back to sleep.  So, not a good time. Regarding the room - the picture needs to be updated.  The room no longer has a bed and sofa - instead it has two double beds that take over the entire space.  For me personally the room and bathroom were very dark, dingy, and uncomfortable.

Comfortable room with all basic amenities, very quiet, possibility to enjoy the rooftop, only a few minutes walk to the beach, many great restaurants close by. Federico is such a kind host.

Federico is an excellent host. Very friendly, personable and knowledgeable about the area. We had hot water! And it is pet-friendly. The beach is just a short walk down a short trail - so convenient! Thank you, Federico! :-)

The staff at this property are notably friendly and welcoming, creating a pleasant atmosphere for guests. The rooms are well-maintained and clean, featuring charming beach-themed decor that perfectly captures the coastal vibe. Each room has been thoughtfully decorated with maritime elements that enhance the seaside experience. The location is excellent - just a short 5-minute walk to the ocean, making it perfect for beach lovers. The property offers complimentary parking, which is a significant advantage in a beach area. The WiFi connection is reliable and strong throughout the property. A standout feature is the rooftop area, which serves dual purposes: it's an excellent spot for remote work with its comfortable setup, and it also offers a relaxation zone complete with hammocks where guests can unwind while enjoying the ambiance. This versatile space makes the property suitable for both business travelers and vacationers.

The property's main drawback was the noise level from the corridors. We could clearly hear conversations, footsteps, luggage being wheeled, and doors opening and closing. This was particularly noticeable during peak times when guests were returning to their rooms heading out early in the morning. The echo effect in the corridors seemed to amplify even normal conversation levels, making it difficult to maintain a peaceful atmosphere within our room.

We loved it! Facilities and services have some gaps! But lovely place, spacious verandah, super friendly staff, very helpful with everything, super convenient for the beach. Highly recommend for families who don't need luxuries and extras, but just want to relax in a tranquil pueblito. And made to feel extremely welcome in the Casa Gajah.

some more facilities in the kitchenette would be very useful - more glasses, plates, pots & pans. But you only need to ask! Suggest somewhere outside to wash off sand and salt water .. because no showers at the beautiful beach. Beach towels etc?

The location was excellent. The room and common areas were very comfortable. The staff were very helpful.

Excelente calidez y trato muy amable

Lovely property 100 m from the beach and 5 mins walk from the main square. I had a downstairs room which had 2 double beds, fridge, a/c, and fan - very comfortable. There was even hot water in the shower which you don't need. I extended my stay and would have extended again, but they were full. Loved Ed Cuyo.

There is no handle on the outside of the front door so it s difficult to close. People kept slamming it :-(
