We had a great stay at this house! The rooms and bathrooms were lovely and clean and the size was perfect for us as we had 7 people there :) the location is fine but you do have to get cabs into the centre as it is a 50 minute walk and includes a steep hill but we didn’t mind getting cabs as it cost us £10-15 each time :) it is close to a Sainsbury's and an M&S petrol garage so that was handy for a few shopping bits we needed. Overall we had a great time and would definitely go back!

We was told there would be 2 sets of keys but we only had one, we didn’t mind because we didn’t need them but we only had one set.

I never heard from booking.com regarding my email of 23 July 2024, as attached. Dear Booking.com Customer Service, I am writing to inform you of several issues we encountered during our stay at the Modern Eco House, reservation number 4572879478, from 23 to 24 July 2024. These issues significantly impacted our experience and spoiled our holiday. I would like to bring these matters to your attention: 1. Difficulty with Main Door Lock: It was quite challenging to unlock the lower lock of the main door with both sets of keys provided. This suggests that either the keys were not properly cut, or the keyhole is broken. 2. Lack of Boiler Instructions: There were no instructions or manuals for the boiler, and we were not informed of the need to switch it on. Consequently, my 91-year-old mother experienced a distressing situation when the hot water ran out after five minutes, causing her to scream in discomfort. 3. Injury Due to Lack of Hot Water: Due to the absence of hot water, my sister had to fetch hot water from the kitchen in small plastic containers, running up and down the stairs. Unfortunately, she suffered a burn on her left hand during this process. 4. Expired First Aid Kits: We found two first aid kits in the kitchen larder, but all contents were expired, dating back to 2015 (refer to attachments). 5. Incorrect Information in Welcome Folder: The “Welcome” folder mentioned that the nearest chemist in the local Sainsbury’s was open late. However, it was closed after 10:00 p.m. We later discovered that ASDA, which was not mentioned in the folder, has a 24-hour chemist (see attachments). As you can imagine, these issues collectively ruined our holiday. We would appreciate it if you could address these concerns promptly and take appropriate actions to prevent such occurrences for future guests. Thank you for your attention to these matters. The house was super spacious and comfortable, and had everything we needed for a two night stay. We had a slight crisis (our own fault) and they were super understanding and quick to respond.

The 6 of us weren’t all able to have a shower with hot water if we showered at the same time, but it was fine if we didn’t all shower in the morning or evening. Some issues with the plumbing in the downstairs bathroom. But we were still really happy with our stay 🙂
