Ocean Bliss by Sugar Coliving

This hotel was the last stop on our honeymoon, and we were absolutely thrilled. The hotel is very well maintained, and the view of the sea is simply stunning. The staff is truly extremely friendly. Special mention goes to Ravindu and Anjana, who take great care of their guests. We had an unforgettable time there and would like to take this opportunity to thank all the staff for this wonderful stay.

They did not provide towels until 6pm when we checked in. Room was not cleaned.

Firstly we were greeted warmly by Anjana the hostess. She was so freindly and welcoming. She explained the hotel, the available driver out the front, nearby attractions. The rest of the staff were so lovely too. Our room was gorgeous, we could see the ocean from our bed. The view from our deck was gorgeous. The hotel was nice and peaceful, away from traffic.

We stayed four nights at this resort located at the north end of the beach of Weligama. It is a very small bay with two beaches separated by the rocks in a delightful location. The resort stands out from the others in the area because it was recently built and therefore it is all new. Anjana as head of staff was immediately very helpful and attentive to our requests. The resort is located in a slightly elevated position compared to the beach and therefore the rooms on the ground floor also have a decent view of the sea. In fact, a pleasant corner room on the ground floor has been reserved for us. However, having also seen rooms on the upper floors, we asked if there was availability. Anjana, with great attention, told us that all the rooms were occupied, but that they were going to permanently equip three completely new rooms just finished upstairs. All the staff worked to finish as soon as possible one of the three rooms that we were able to occupy after 2 days. A fantastic room, completely new, with large arched windows, a bathtub near one of the windows, a large sink at the entrance and a bathroom with a separate toilet and shower. The view from the large balcony is priceless. Anjana through WhatsApp has always been extremely available to all our requests. There is also the availability to provide food in the room from breakfast to dinner. Highly recommended.

The hotel is lovely, however we felt it was very overpriced. We stayed 1-4 Jan so assume a peak season tariff was applied. For <$200, it would be totally acceptable. However we were charged more than double that so you expect a lot more. Some examples of where it missed expectations - The bath is on the balcony, however there is little privacy from the shared kitchen on one side and the next room on the other, you can peer round the sides straight into the bath. The water is also luke warm. There’s no safe for valuables. The bed is extremely creaky, it wakes you up in the night. They don’t have spare keys so the room can only be serviced when you’re at the hotel. These might all seem trivial but for $500+ SGD a night you have certain expectations. The location is great. The staff were lovely. The room is spacious and clean and the views are stunning.

Absolutely loved this spot - amazing ocean views with a great swimming spot right outside. Accommodation is away from the hustle and bustle of Weligama but easy to reach via tuk tuk. Great spot for surfers looking to make the most of the local breaks up and down the coast.
