The Unicorn, Ambleside

The staff were extremely friendly and accomodating when we had to store a bag and check out a bit later... very flexible and understanding. The location was also great... right in Ambleside.

The shower was very difficult to control the temperature and the room was a bit slanted and on the older time. There was some street noise from down below as well.

We understand that the hotel will be upgrading the rooms soon and we were informed that this was reflected in the lower than average cost for the room. Fair enough, but it would only have taken a very small amount of money to make things a bit more comfortable. Such as an extra pillow, (the one each that were provided were very thin), or a lick of paint to the flaking wall in the bathroom, or a plug for the sink in the bathroom. There were some unavoidable problems, such as a power cut, and a door just outside the room which was quite noisy when people went through at all hours of the night. Good luck with the upgrading - hope it won't make the cost of the room too much more expensive.

No tv in room.

This was the perfect room to put our heads down after a good day in the mountains. We got exactly what we expected for the price we paid in such a premium location. Staff were lovely and the pub is great for a drink and a feed on the evening. If anything the room was slightly more spacious than what we expected.

Slightly dated rooms, but the friendly staff, service and location make up for this.
