The Presidential Inn at Poland Spring Resort

Location

Very old building. Room lock was extremely sticky and you needed 2 hands to unlock and and lock the door. The “coffee in the lobby” was actually on the lower level with no signs for such and was not worth it. Rooms were dated and bathroom was showing lots of weathering.

Atmosphere

There was a play area for kids downstairs which is a nice amenity. It was also very quiet.

They didn't give little bottles of shampoo, which I actually like. The problem was that the dispenser said "shampoo and conditioner" but it held two clear sudsy products, no conditioner. Not fun to find out after soaping my hair and my daughter's. Breakfast was not included, which we have come to expect at this price. We ran out to Dunkin but it would have been much nicer to just head downstairs like most hotels. Though heading downstairs to breakfast would not have worked at all as there were actually no staff available in this whole building! The desk is in another hotel a short drive away, so you drive somewhere else to check in. That seemed weird in such a large hotel. It was funky and historic but didn't feel like it's been 3 stars in many years.

The location was alright…

The room was not what we reserved, and was half the size plus it didn’t have all the amenities we were told it would like a second bed, and a bath. When we mentioned it to the receptionist she told he you get what you buy and dismissed us.

The history involved there.

No In door pool or hot tub.

Historic charm, and the scenery. The staff we encountered were all very friendly. The rooms and common areas were clean and the view from the top of the hill was great. The price was also great compared to other area hotels for this weekend.

The beds were a little short and uncomfortable. The room was not as advertised in the pictures online. We stayed at the Presidential Inn, and nothing indicated ahead of time that we had to check in at the Main Building except the sign on the door of the inn, so we had to pack our luggage back in the car and drive up the hill.

Pretty property with several buildings, including the chapel, Maine bldg from worlds fair and the Poland Springs bldgs in addition to the hotels. Liked the large room on ground floor as requested. Clean room. Had a fridge. Historic with interesting history! Liked that there was a pool but couldn't use it due to storm that swept through. Obviously not the hotel's fault. Probably great if you're a golfer. There were some negatives, but overall we liked it and would visit again if visiting the area.

No coffee in Presidential bldg although the paperwork said there would be coffee at 7:30AM. Found out around 9AM the coffee should be down stairs but door was locked and even after it was opened there was only a machine dispensing hot water, coffee was out. Very disappointing for a resort. Should have coffee in the lobby signs because it is not obvious and at least put small coffee makers in rooms. Had to either walk along the road or drive as there was no walking trail from Presidential bldg to Maine Bldg. No place to load/unload car, front door is heavy and closes on you. Parking lot is a bit of a distance and gravel so can't roll suitcases.
