So convenient, easy to find, big room, with a nice view. Very good value for money. Nice breakfast and excellent communication from the hosts.

The bed was a little uncomfortable.

"I will visit again as it’s on a route I travel several times a year."

8.0

Incredibly friendly staff.,lovely room, exceptionally comfortable bed. Nice tea and coffee tray. Loved the self serve breakfast option where I could chat to other guests.

The shower in my room was very hot! I couldn’t reduce the temperature. Apart from that, all was very good.

Great house with a lawn where very beautiful view opens. In one of the rooms there is a reach collection of books: classics, a lot of Shakespeare and reader digests. I wish I could stay longer to read all this.

"Hard working host and a great location."

7.0

Great welcome from the host, lovely garden and our en suite room was huge! Host was very responsive when our keys did not work. Lots of history and games etc for us to use, and the local pub was great for food and company.

The bed was too hard for us…& the shower ran extremely hot and extremely cold. Unsure of using the cooker so we just used the toaster.

"Spacious character property, quiet and comfortable"

7.0

Access to communal areas, ample parking, quiet, good TV and shower.

Nothing was bad, but lots of little things could provide big improvements: Cook your own breakfast is not a bad idea, but the offering was slim (white bread, jam, eggs, choice of two cereals) and I wasn’t sure what was for anyone and what belonged to other guests - leftovers in fridge were not appealing. WiFi code in bedroom didn’t work, but I did find another in the communal area. Decorated ok, but all a bit dated and mismatched furniture, and few things just needed a quick fix - router and smoke alarm on floor, loose fittings in en-suite, missing tile in en-suite, old tv bracket on wall, laundry hanging in communal area.

"Well deserved peace and quiet at Lucy Cross farmhouse"

9.0

Breakfast was self service. The host Callum provided milk, yoghurt, fresh eggs, bread, cereal and bacon for our stay. Our stay was purely for some peace and quiet....and that's what we had. Lucy Cross farmhouse is quite remote but the villages of Aldbrough St. John and Manfield are a short 3 minute drive away or about a 20 min walk. Richmond and Darlington less than 20 min in the car. Ripon, about half an hour. There is some traffic passes by but it didn't affect our sleep or peace. The beds are very comfortable and our room (Room 1) was very spacious. Other people staying there were very friendly. We intend to visit again and I will be recommending Lucy Cross to some friends who were interested. There is car parking adjacent to the farmhouse. It's a farmland area so no tarmac but quite flat and loose gravel.

For our visit there was nothing to dislike. The farmhouse is quite old, 260+ years. I believe its been passed through generations down to Callum. The age reflects on the interior and furniture within the building giving it true character. The stairs are quite narrow and as with a lot of old buildings, the ceiling height is narrow in some areas (stairs and some doorways)....again!! Great character! If you're tall....duck!! These aren't negative points....just respect the buildings age and watch ya heed!!
