Palmeras del Río HOTEL

The beautiful location and views! The riverside terrace and chill areas with perfect sunsets! The staff was very friendly and helped to organise our days. The food was tasty and we found it reasonably priced (40-60 for lunch, 80 for dinner). The cute animals are a plus if you like that. We really liked the vibe of the place, met lovely people and had a great time by the river!

The sleeping situation is sadly terrible, to be honest. No air circulation in the room, no fan at night, so it was VERY hot. We could barely sleep. In addition, you can’t really call the rooms “private” since the walls are thin and have a large gap at the top. That meant we heard our neighbours talk (understood every word), snore and even turn in bed. Very uncomfortable. If the night temperatures and privacy was better I would give this place 5 stars but we had multiple really bad nights here and so did other guests.

The place is absolutely gorgeous! So relaxing (and we aren’t the relaxing type) and chilled. Staff were great, the chefs are incredible and the family style dinners were so great every night - up there with the best food we had in Guatemala! Plus they have an incredibly cute puppy

We stayed in one of the cabins which was nice but a bit dark/damp, but that’s to be expected when staying in the jungle!

The location was amazing, pretty and we felt very welcome. We were easily helped with all our questions and requests and the family dinner was amazing!

The bed + mosquito net were a bit small for us. Also, it was very warm in the night and since the electricity turns off in the night, fans were also not an option.

-Staff: extremely knowledgable, friendly, funny, and helpful. -Food/drinks: absolutely excellent. I was really impressed with every meal we had, as well as the mixed drinks we tried. Reasonable prices for everything. Bonus points for the delicious fresh bread made on site! -Atmosphere: they really thought of everything--tons of great spaces to relax, hammocks to sleep in, places to charge your gadgets, free drinking water, kayaks to take out whenever you want, etc. And the dogs/kittens they have are of course a great bonus, too!

Nice quiet place with a tasty dinner and breakfast option and really friendly staff. Nice pier for swimming and relaxing. Offers Kayak and boat tours.

Be prepared for mosquitos.

What an amazing place near the river banks in the jungle.. Amazing staff and shared dinners with the rest of the guests. We really loved this place, definitely one of our favorites in Guatemala!!
